I had an immigration problem and conducted an in-depth search for an immigration attorney to represent me and came across Daniel Shanfield.
From his background info available on the web - UCLA undergrad, UC Berkeley Boalt Hall law school - I knew that Daniel was smart. Meeting him in person, I immediately felt that he had the other element I was looking for in the attorney who was going to represent me - the passion and commitment to his client.
I had met three other attorneys before finding Daniel - all with fine reputations in the SF Bay Area - and they had all fallen short of my expectations. I found one to be too concerned about collecting fees at every juncture and the other two were too pessimistic about my case - who needs pessimism!
In the initial consultation with Daniel, based on the experience with the other attorneys, I thought that Daniel's assessment of the case was too too hopeful. But he explained his assessment based on his past experience with his clients and also explained the strategy he was going to follow with my case. The other attorneys never explained any strategy they would follow. The case proceeded exactly as he had initially outlined - both in terms of the timeline and the strategy, and the substantive outcome - a complete victory for me.
I found his fees to be very competitive, and I know that the complexity of my case required him and his staff to spend more hours than anticipated by his agreed fee but I never received any additional request for payment or complaints from him for the extra time spent.
I recommend Daniel without any reservations. He combines intelligence, commitment, passion, and care. On top of it, he also has a fine sense of humor.
In my line of work, I've worked with literally hundreds of attorneys throughout the US - not just immigration attorneys. Daniel definitely ranks with the best of them.
Pros: Intelligent, passionate, committed, integrity
Cons: Can't think of any
