Au Contraire 2/13/2010

I took my wedding dress to Laura of Beverly Hills for tailoring and did not share the experience of unhappiest customer. My dress was already beautiful, but lacked in proper fit, Laura and her team, painstakingly tailored the dress to fit my body like a glove. The craftsmanship of her work was manifest the day of my wedding, the dress moved beautifully and fit perfectly. She made a gorgeous French bustle that was absolutely magnificent. She did quote me a lower price than at first, but that is what a quote is for. If additional work needs to be done, and you want a dress that looks spectacular, like couture, you cannot balk at price. Sure, you can find another tailor, at a lower price, but you pay for what you get. I did not want to sacrifice aesthetic for thrift. I might add, that going for a fitting, does not guarantee a perfect fit one time. Couture, and well crafted suiting/dresses, etc. is a labor of love. Does one think that Dior, Gres, and Chanel performed only one fitting on a model before the work was perfected? I was never treated rudely, briskly perhaps, but that could be a cultural thing. Laura's work was stellar, and that is what a good tailor should strive for with every piece they touch. Oh, by the way, I am not a celebrity, or related to one in any way. Pros: Excellent tailoring Cons: pricing more

Bad experience 6/10/2008

If you like being treated rudely, coming back multiple times, and having someone try to charge you more than was promised, go here. Otherwise, ANYWHERE ELSE would be better. From my experience and observation, Laura treats customers that are regular people poorly; she posts the photos of celebrity clients have apparently been her clients on the side wall (apparently, this gives her a sense of self-importance) and I watched her interact with a customer who she considered ""important"" (i.e. the parent was a celebrity). This is NOT the same way she behaved toward me. To me she was rude and curt. She also promised to alter a sample dress that I brought in for ""less than one hundred dollars"" and on that basis I bought the dress (in the size she recommended, etc). After coming back three times, she finally fitted the dress, but the cost she wanted was substanitally more. She would not honor the cost she gave me as the ""highest it would be"". This was a special ocassion dress needed by a certain date. SHAME on her! So we went elsewhere after wasting so much time and effort there, and being treated so rudely. I will never return here and would tell me friends to save themselves the aggravation. I cannot speak to the quality of the work here as the dress was ultimately altered elsewhere but my expereience here was HORRENDOUS -- the worst I have ever had at any establishment. Cons: Rude service, would not honor price quoted for alterations more
