I seriously love this place!! 6/30/2010

I've been to other comedy clubs and this is by far my favorite. In fact every time I purchase my tickets on-line I get a small adrenaline rush, because I know there are some super good times in my future.\r \r In my opinion this is the best setting to bear witness to all different types of live comedy. By that I mean legends like Emo Phillips, Stoners like Doug Benson, Intense dudes like Graham Elwood, Spitroasters(aka Margaret Cho) and even baby new jack comedians.\r \r I have plans to take stand up classes here in the future, and can't wait for my chance to get up on that stage. Honestly, when is the last time you went somewhere and had such a good time it helped you decied what to do with your life?\r \r Unless you're an alcoholic at bar, you probably don't have an answer for that. But this is my experience and I wanted to pass it on....\r \r Pros: intimate setting, parking ain't horrible, great comics Cons: none yet more

Tiny but comfortable. Love it. 2/3/2010

Although it's tiny, the seats in the Laughing Skull are comfortable, and aren't crammed as close together as many other comedy clubs. The ticket prices are usually reasonable, and it has the added bonus of being inside the Vortex, so if you show up early enough you can grab a delicious burger before you head in for the show. \r \r I advise going with the middle seating rather than the tables up front. It seems like the tables would be better, because you can lean on them, but really they're small and you're so near the stage, you can almost touch the comic's shins. (If you're looking for a good shin-touching, though, tables up front, all the way.) Pros: Great comics, intimate venue, room to breathe Cons: Inflated nearby parking on ""event nights"" more

Great! 2/3/2010

Great venue - Small enough that the comedians can interact with people, but not so small that you feel like you're in someone's basement! Was there last Saturday, and a good time was had by all! Pros: Small, Intimate Cons: None! more

Finally A Comedy Lounge For Us Intowners! 9/23/2009

Laughing Skull Comedy Lounge is long overdue. And it's part/adjacent to one of our fave Burger Joint's, The Vortex. No traveling to OTP/Sandy Springs. The progressive guests are great. When Hollis Gillespie takes the stage. I'm rolling in the aisles. Maybe we might even catch a glance of Suzanne, and one of her many bikes. The spirit of Lenny Bruce lives! Pros: Next To Vortex Cons: Parking, We Just Take Marta! more

Best Comedy Club in Atlanta!!! 9/21/2009

I went this past weekend to see comedian Hal Sparks and we LOVED our experience. That was one of the best comedy shows I have ever been to and I think a great deal of it had to do with the club. Dont get me wrong, Hal Sparks is VERY funny, but maybe the room helped him be funnier. We plan to come back as much as possible! Pros: comedians, seating, location Cons: parking, kinda hard to find more

Love Love Laughing Skull! 9/9/2009

The owner is hilarious, and we've yet to see a bad comedian! The venue is a great setting for a group of friends or just a couple. Its definitely worth checking out! I'm sure you'll go back. Marshall has also generously hosted fundraising shows and donated a portion of the shows proceeds to local charities. Pros: Great Venue! - Really Cool atmosphere for comedy Cons: parking is no good... more

Best croissants in town! Well, not exactly... 8/28/2009

As huge stand up fans, we loooove the Laughing Skull! You get a chance to really connect with the comedians. There's not a bad seat in the house. Pros: Intimate space; worldclass acts; The Vortex! Cons: Narrow entrance hall, maybe? That's about it. more

Super Cool and Very Funny! 8/28/2009

I finally went to this comedy club the other week and had a blast. This is not like any other comedy club I have ever been to... and in the heart of midtown Atlanta!!! I am very happy that Atlanta has such a cool comedy club. The comedians I saw were all very funny with unique jokes. I will be making this place one of my regular spots. more

Great place for a good laugh!! 8/27/2009

Favorite spot in the city 8/27/2009

As a comic, this is my favorite place to perform. The venue is perfect to interact with the crowd. The size and acoustics make every seat a great seat. The audience is smart and fun and you don't have to ""dumb it down"" for them. Best comedy club in the city. It's inside the Vortex so you get great food and drinks before and after the show. Pros: Great seats, atmosphere and performances more

Best comedy club in Atlanta 8/27/2009

This is the best comedy club in the city. It's inside the Vortex so you get some great food before and after the show. The bar is also the gathering place of many local performers. Guy sitting next to you could be the next great thing you see on TV. Pros: Every seat is a great seat more

Great comedy club 8/27/2009

It's tiny and you're close to the comics, even if you're sitting in the general admission seats. This creates a better experience overall. They even have a wait staff even though the bar is a 5 second walk from your seat. Go to the Laughing Skull. Now. Pros: Intimate setting, cheap beer Cons: Paying for parking (not a big deal, though) more

love this place 6/26/2009

I love this comedy club, but dont understand how they can bring in big comedians with only ~80 seats... but if they make it, awesome! I have seen three shows here and every time it is a fun time. Pros: very very cool Cons: too small more

great time 6/25/2009

after hearing about this place for a while, I went with some friends and we all loved it. The comedians were very good, without being hacky and generic. The room itself is sooo small, I think it only holds 80 people or so. And it is in the back of the vortex which felt odd, but still kinda cool... We will definitely go back!!! Pros: very cool everything Cons: kinda hidden more

great comedy club 6/22/2009

This is my favorite comedy club in Atlanta. I went for the first time about 2 months ago just after it opened and have been back about 4 times. Everyone I take enjoys the comedy club and likes the fact that it is so small. I cant wait to see Jake Johannsen in a few weeks.... and I like that I am the first one to review Atlanta's rock star comedy club Pros: room, comedians, atmosphere more

Editorial
  • In Short
Anyone who’s read the hilarious “rules of the restaurant” on the front of the Vortex menu knows Atlanta’s favorite burger joint has a good sense of humor. So it makes perfect...
