last place on earth to buy an animal that for sure i bought some animals from there in the past i bought one just for the reason i felt bad for it it was covered in mites and tick it took me weeks to get the pthons weight back up it looks great now if you dont know how to care for animals you shouldnt own a pet store more

Pet Store in Akers Center 4/4/2008

The pet store in Akers Center is very nice. They were a good pet store before they moved from the old mall but they now have a big, clean store. I have 3 dogs from there and I love everyone of them. I don't personally care about registries they are only good for breeding purposes and tracking....but I registered them anyway...2 are APRI and one is AKC. I have 2 Dachshunds and a little Maltese. I would recommend this store to anyone looking for a good healthy puppy. They also had a health warranty on the dog for a year...I had no problems with my dogs but its nice to have that in case something did happen. They have all kinds of other animals too that look pretty cool. more

My experience with Last Place on Earth has been positive.\r \r It is the cleanest Pet Store I have ever seen.\r \r Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.\r \r I have three puppies from here and am totally pleased.\r \r I highly recommend this store. more

Excellent pet store 11/19/2007

The Last Place on Earth is the only place I would purchase a puppy in Gastonia. They do not sell puppy mill puppies. I checked out their breeders. They are all USDA licensed and inspected. Puppy mills are not licensed. Further, the store is licensed and inspected by AKC, they even post their compliance sheet. No, not all their puppies are AKC but this is clearly shown in writing. I purchased an APRI registered puppy. For the record, all APRI puppies were originally AKC. It is a respected registry. If they were selling puppy mill dogs, they certainly wouldn't be giving a 1 year health warranty like I got when I bought my puppy there. All the animals at the store are always well cared for. They even post their NCDA inspection reports. As far as most of the birds not being for sale, as of the date of this review, they have a Harlequin Macaw, BlueFront Amazon, African Gray, 2 Hahn's Macaws, several Quakers and Conures for sale. Easy to work with 11/4/2007

I recently adopted/purchased a bird from Last Place On Earth (2 mos. ago). The bird was very well cared for, a good eater, gentle, healthy, and a joy to have. I have 7 other birds, so I am not someone that is unaware of what is good and bad in a bird. She is a sweetheart. Healthy, happy and as gentle as any bird I have ever seen. \r Last place on earth is where I would go if I were looking for another bird. The Pet Store 9/13/2007

I go to this store every week because I feed my ball python that I purchased there over a year ago, so here is what I think. Being a privately owned businesss, this store isn't bad as everyone has previously said it is. Of course the puppy mill thing isn't the greatest of things, but most pet stores get their dogs from there (so I guess don't buy dogs from there if you dislike it), but they do take care of the animals and actually have quite a nice selection of various ones. The store is cramped, but being a privately owned business, you do with the space you have. Unlike Petsmart, they actually have feeder mice, mealworms, crickets and other various foods for your pets. Yes Petsmart has mice and rats, but if you tell them you're feeding them to another animal, they will refuse to sell it to you, plus they're overpriced. I've never had a problem with an animal dying that I purchased there, and I've gotten various pets from there in the past (and the snake is still alive and well). This more

Bad Service 7/21/2007

Listen to this I went in and bought the cutest bunny in the cage and brought him home and played with him a week later sadly he died and oh and most of the birds they have int there arent for sale and if they are they are way to pricey so i went to petsmart and bought my bird there and every animal ive bought from there is still alive more

Puppy Mill seller 3/21/2007

I purchased a puppy that I was told was registerable. I am only familiar with AKC so I thought that was what they meant. Guess what there is APR. You can register a stray on there site. I have numerous opportunities for stud service for him but nobody will use him because he is not AKC registerable. This store buys from puppie mills with questionable lineage. My dog came from Beloit, Ks. Beware of this place. DO NOT BUY from them!!!!!!!!!! The saddest part to me is my son and daughter-in-law purchased an AKC registered schnauzer to breed with my dog but now we do not wish to mix their lineage. Jan more

Cramped and Dirty 8/26/2005

The Last Place on Earth is appropriately named. The store is dingy and crammed full. With all the information regarding pet stores and puppy mills, I was amazed to see people actually buying these poor little dogs. Buying anything from a store that sells dogs supports puppie mills! The Last Place on Earth is exactly where any animal loving person should not be found! PROS: None CONS: Selling animals, cramped, dingy more

This pet store is located in a shopping center in Gastonia. They have tons of merchandise and it is very cramped in the store. They have a decent selection of pet birds and fish and a small selection of dogs. It does not appear that the animals are well cared for. I would not shop here again. Last Place on Earth 7/19/2005

This is a very good privately owned business. There prices are fair. They are one of the few pet shops around that have food for reptiles and scorpions. They also sell fish, birds and puppies. more
