Last Chance is not the cheapest thrift store around. It is, however, a great place to find kids' clothing, toys, books, and even equipment...if you know when to go.
Monday is half-price day. If you want to go on Monday, plan to be there before the doors open. It's that popular. And if you go late in the day, be prepared for the shelves to be stripped bare. I like to go to Last Chance on Wednesday or Thursday. By that time, every thing's been restocked.
The children's clothing tends to be of better quality than at some other thrift stores. It's sorted by gender and by general size. There's a bin of shoes nearby that's worth digging through.
The toy area at any thrift store tends to be a holy mess on Fridays and weekends. Too often people let their kids play there while they shop. That's why I like to go on Wednesdays and Thursdays--more organized. There's a separate section of board books and kids books. Prices on books range from about.69 to .99. Sometimes they bag several books together and sell them for $2 to $3. The toys range from .99 to about $3. They have tons of stuffed animals and puzzles, too. There's even a section of empty binders if you need school supplies.
There's often a "$2 off a purchase of $10" coupon in "The Sunday Paper" (not the AJC, the little free weekly). Last Chance takes debit, but they don't like you to use it if you spend less than $5.
