After a bad experience at Waves in downtown ABQ, I started going to Laru Ni Hati as it was really close to my work.

greg's the bomb 3/26/2009

i made an appointment at laru ni hati salon after receiving a haircut downtown that looked better in the picture than on my head. Greg spent lots of time listening and offering me options and when he was done my hair looked great without a big blow-dry fuss! the salon carries products that i was able only to find online. fantastic! Pros: talent, product selection, ambiance, location, extended hours Cons: limited parking more

Excellent Haircuts and Ecclectic Ambiance 2/16/2009

Greg's been cutting my hair for years. He maintains my hair in a functional, easy, towel-dry-and-go kind of cut that's perfect for me. Laru Ni Hati even offers 'between cut' trims for free. more

Best hair cuts and color ever 1/20/2009

I have been going to Laru Ni Hati for years. In fact, after I moved Hollywood I continued to make special trips back just to get my hair done here. There is only one man I will let touch my hair. He has always made me happy with short cuts, mid length or whatever I asked for. The atmosphere is the best in town and even ahead of it's time with LA standards. I love the music and the food is great too. I would recommend Laru to anybody. Pros: Service, food, drink selection, music, hair cutters, ambience Cons: Not located in Hollywood.....a long trip for me. more

Best haircuts 11/3/2008

I live in Belen and will not go to any hairdresser in this town or this county. Been there, done that. For the past five years, my daughters and I have always gotten excellent haircuts at Laru Ni Hati. What I like best is that the hairdresser always studies the shape of the face and texture of the hair and makes recommendations. For example, my youngest daughter had long hair and told Greg to cut it short. After studying her face and her hair, he began cutting. She loves it and has had so many compliments. The staff is very friendly and makes sure that you are comfortable. I strongly recommend this salon if you want a quality haircut. more

Magnificent salon with great atmosphere~!! 11/3/2008

Highly recommend all services with this salon -- the staff is very knowledgeable and takes the time to discuss all aspects of your hair including daily routine. I was given excellent advice and walked out looking fabulous. Cut was easy to maintain and grew out well. I have visited this salon for many years and I would only trust my hair to this team of professionals. more

Unique, High Quality Hairstyling You Can Actually Reproduce at Home! 10/30/2008

Although I've sought it out for many years (or decades), I never really believed I could get a haircut that was truly ""low maintenance"" and would look great without significant amounts of hair product, pulling on a round brush and/or burns from a curling iron. Now I can literally let my hair dry naturally with no product and it looks like it is styled every time. Each haircut from Greg comes with his personal attention to the texture and ""personality"" of my hair so that the style is reproducible. It's a simple concept; yet, one I haven't encountered in all many years of haircuts and hairstylists. more

a decade of fabulous hair 10/24/2008

i have been getting my haircut at laru for many years, and would never go anywhere else. more

sad and bloody 5/22/2008

I have gone to the salon three times hoping for the great cut I hear about, the days when Delana worked there are gone I see... Each time my stylist has been friendly and conversational, but has never done what I asked with my hair; at least the air of superiority was in small doses, right? I am used to paying a good amount for cuts, I went to the same stylist in Denver for three years, he was meticulous, treated his work like an art form- the way stylists should. From my last visit to Laru I now have a short choppy bob, not what I asked for, a nicked ear, not what I was expecting, and no desire to try again. Over priced doesn't even begin to justify my loss, I had to write a warning, I am one girl who wishes the owner of this locally owned shop cared at all- I would complain to him if I thought it would make any difference to him and the pretentious stylist. more

i love my hair again! 3/14/2008

from the moment i walked in, i knew i was in for a treat. more

Price scam on hair coloring....but good food 9/25/2007

I went in to get some color done. They didn't have bright pink or purple ( I was shocked since they seem so cosmopolitan) so I had to bring my own color. I chose some Manic Panic purple and hot, hot, hot pink. I asked the counter person for a price because I saw no price board. He said it would be around $80 since I wasn't getting a haircut. I thought it was steep but went for it anyway because the chick hairdresser seemed so cool. While I waited for my appointment I ate a Cubano Sandwich, which was tres delicious! The girl did a fabulous job on my hair (purple underneath and pink on top-no bleaching because I have naturally blond hair). I want to make it clear that all she did was apply color I brought (no foils just pins), sit me under a heater, wash color out and condition, and comb out my hair (no dryer). She worked on me for 45 minutes minus dryer time of 20 minutes. During those 20 minutes she worked on someone else. Pros: Great sandwiches, wine, apertifs and gourmet sodas! Cons: Scam on price for hair services.....nothing is posted and prices change as you are being serviced without you being told! more

attention to every detail especially my hair 8/31/2007

i went to laru ni hati on the recommendation of a friend. i have just moved to Albuquerque and was nervous about my first hair experience here. i had trouble finding the salon because it doesn't look like a salon from the street. when you walk in, you first see the Cuban cafe and then the hair salon toward the back. Pros: the atmosphere is big city and fun more

this salon knows how to please their clients 1/2/2007

best haircut from anyone anywhere and it was done after a long consultation. more

You will leave smelling like fryer grease 12/16/2006

I dont think this place knows if it wants to be a hair salon, cigar shop, card shop or fried food restaurant. Whatever it is they need to make up their mind. I went for a haircut, I waited while the hairdresser ate her lunch and then she didnt even wash her hands. Hair cut was sub par and it was the worst blow-dry I have ever experienced. Before I relocated, I went to a top notch salon. You would leave feeling like you stepped out of a magazine. This place was a far cry from that, and they charge way to much for their level of skill. The hair stylist did not do what I asked. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Pros: neat area of town Cons: smell like grease, parking, price, not skilled stylists more

Fun Experience 1/2/2006

If you are looking for a salon that is creative with a fun environment, you should for sure try Laru Ni Hati. The atmosphere is exciting and bright. It has a daytime club feel with neon lights, cuban cigars, alternative and tech music playing, and great food that you can try for free while getting your hair done. This is the only salon in Albuquerque where I've wanted to come back. The workers are young and energetic and you always feel welcomed. Pros: decent parking, exciting environment, good food Cons: Expensive more

exceeded expectations 7/30/2005

in short: great mix of services, products, food and stuff to do. more
