I have been taking my autos to Larry's Service for 26 years. I first encountered him via referral. Larry is extremely hard-working: so much so that it's almost spooky. Larry's team does excellent, quality work for a fair price. He is a certified Master Mechanic. Thank you. Pros: Personal integrity, fast, uses Manufacturer parts, price. Cons: One must be willing to listen fast. more

Stupid choice! 4/13/2010

6 months ago I went there to have my Altima engine tuned, coz it misfired some time. One day later the Vietnamese called me and told me I need a new gasket which is a several hundred buck job. I did not believe ""it"" and declined his invoice. When I picked my car there, he yelled to me ""If you want to die, just leave, I don't care!"" ""Fxxk your idot!"" I said nothing bad but no. It was horrible, his man tried to let me believe his boss just had a bad day with bad mood, but for me that Vietnamese is something really bad. Thank God I finally get my car back and have it checked with another local mechanic, the problem was fixed by changing a spark plug.\r \r To summarize, use that Vietnamese words ""If you want to suffer, just go, I don't care"". more

Larry Ng Auto in Wellesley 8/29/2008

Larry Ng has taken care of my family's five ""Japanese"" (Toyota, Honda, and Mazda) cars for over 15 years now. He is honest, reliable and won't sell you on repairs you don't need. As a young woman with an 18 year old Toyota Camry I worry about taking my car to anyone else and being oversold or cheated -- or having the car condemned! I no longer live in Wellesley but continue to take my car home to Larry because I value his opinion and the work he does. This is my favorite Larry story: My car started to whistle when I went over 65 mph. I figured it was something in the window. Larry tells me it's the gasket around the window decaying and says, ""Too expensive. Not worth it. Turn up the radio."" Pros: Good for Japanese cars. Cons: Possibly less interested in working on, and therefore not as good, for other makers. more

THe only service for our Japanese cars 10/1/2007

I have been taking my cars to Larry for 15 years. Larry is not the cheapest repair, but he is the best. He always lets me know what needs to be done, and how much it will be.\r \r I never feel like he has made any unnecessary repairs. I have the utmost confidence in his judgment, and I know that he cares about his work.\r \r For example, I took my car in for what I thought was a starter issue. It turned out to be a bad battery. I know that Larry did not put in the new battery, but before he gave me the keys, he went out to my car and tested all the connections and made sure everything was set before I left.\r \r That is service!\r \r He fixes all our cars, as well as those of our neighbors. Pros: Uses genuine parts. Excellent diagnoses. Honest and relaible. Cons: No waiting area - but coffee shops nearby. Not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for - I feel he is less expensive in the long run. more

Great HONEST service 6/1/2006

Larry has two locations at the intersection of Rtes 9 & 16 in Welesley - a Citgo (service) and a Gulf (inspections). We first learned about him from one of my wife's co-workers at Wellesley Public Schools some 11 years ago when we moved to Wellesley. Though we've moved to the Charlestown Navy Yard we still have both our Toyotas serviced by Larry (he sent us to Autolab in Wellesley for our Mercedes). Larry can be abrupt and my wife says he explains more to men than women, but the service is great and reasonably priced for the quality. When he makes a mistake (rarely), he insists on making good on it. He honestly advises whether a repair is necessary now, or worth the cost, what repaiirs are coming up in the furture, etc. Pros: Honest, Reliably Excellent, Thorough Cons: Very busy, Crowded Lot more
