My wife and I visited Larios on the Beach this afternoon after having it recommended by no fewer than 3 people that have lived in Miami or currently live and work there. These were acquaintences, not close friends that have recommended the restaurant. \r

We were completely and totally underwhelmed. The food ranged from terrible to passable, but for the price, was a joke and rip off. \r
\r
We started with the Conch Fritters and Stuffed Green Plantains with Shrimp. The Conch Fritters were a nasty yellow almost tuna fish type taste and smell. Not good and if there is one thing I can recommend, it is to stay away from those. The Stuffed Green Plantains were not good either, but at least they didn't turn our stomachs. \r

For our meal we split a cuban sandwich, decent but nothing to holler about. Have had better cuban sandwiches many times before, but when throwing ham, pork, cheese, pickle, and some bread, you can't really screw it up too much. The french fries that came with it, were nothing more than overfried ore ida french fries you would get at a grocery store frozen food aisle. \r
\r
We also had the Cuban Style Skirtsteak, which was cooked well done, although requested medium, and the best part of it was the chimichurri sauce it came with. \r
\r
My wife got a side of black beans which were fine, and the plantains that came with the Steak were the highlight of the meal. Those were sauteed to perfection and really sweet and good. \r
\r
The service was slow and crappy, and they kindly add 17% to your bill as a gratuity, so I don't think there is much urgency to them providing good service.\r
\r
All in all, skip this place. It had 80% positive reviews on Urbanspoon and that along with the recommendations from others had us going, but we won't be back. \r
\r
Overpriced, low quality, bad service, and food disappointing enough to get me to sign in and leave a review. Dine at your own risk.
