The Lanier Library is in a lovely older, very well preserved wood building. The floors creak a little, which makes the library all the more interesting. A periodicals reading room has a wide selection of current journals, comfortable seating and a fireplace. There is a good selection of videos, a small collection of DVDs, some children's books, and the usual range of subjects found in any library. This library has a high percent of fiction, since this is what most of the members prefer. Members are encouraged to participate in committees which choose library materials, staff the service desk and attend to back room chores. If you need help finding a book or video, someone is always willing to help. There are two Internet computers, but the library catalog is still on catalog cards. Membership is $20.00/year.
