Langlitz Leathers

I've been wearing Langlitz leathers for almost 20 years so far, and I firmly believe they may outlast me. I finally have what I feel are the ultimate jackets for motorcycling. After a series of owning, selling, and trading various Langlitz jackets, I have settled on my two favorites. First up is a ""Padded Pocket Columbia"", which is their ""fully loaded"" jacket. I'm pretty sure this jacket is optioned out. My next favorite (actually my winter coat), is a ""Columbia"" with a few choice options including a genuine fur (mouton) collar. Just the weight of the fur collar keeps me toasty and warm on these brisk Portland winter days. If the roads are not icy, I'm riding. \r My trusty Langlitz ""Westerns"" with full leg zippers keep me warm and protected. Chaps are for cowboys, get a set of ""Westerns"" for warmth and full coverage protection on your iron horse. \r Service...This should be a part of the Langlitz name. I don't see Dave or Tom much these days, but Scott and John will treat you with the same courtesy, service, and friendliness. If I show up with a repair on my bike, they will make every attempt to fix it while I wait. The overall vibe at the shop is relaxed, but very professional and totally customer service oriented. You can have a cup of coffee and discuss your needs knowing you'll be taken care of. No request is outrageous, these guys and gals can make anything you can dream up. I can think of two zipper repairs, and a couple of seams that needed restitching in the 20 years I've worn Langlitz. I don't know of anything else I've owned that can compare to this. I truly believe that their quality and level of service are unbeatable. \r They are not cheap, some may say they are too expensive. But I consider this an investment in safety, comfort, design, and most important, the Langlitz name behind the product. While they do produce fine quality leathers Langlitz now seems to sell most of their apparel overseas to well-heeled Japanese who will pay anything for authentic old-timey American leather togs. Their jacket prices start at $850 and go sharply skyward with options. One used to see dozens of new Langlitz jackets in Portland, but, sadly, no longer.
