We came from South Dakota specifically to go to the Lange winery (reading The Grail ...with a dictionary assist)...we were hooked....at that time Lange was not distributed to SD...fortunately now is)....we hoped to meet Jesse (he was gone,,,but luck was on our side...we got Shani)....what a great tasting (I just need to learn to spit....too many wonderful wines),,,my favorite is the Tempranillo......OK I like their Pintos Noir..Pinots Gris...\r not on the beaten trail ...but more than worth it....Lee and Donna Mabee more

Lange wines are consistently wonderful. We have always been welcomed at the winery and made to feel at home. We have shared vintage after vintage with vintners and staff who are passionate about good wine and good people! On our most recent visit to the vineyard we enjoyed all of the Lange wines and went on to taste their current Domaine Trouvére releases. The depth and complexity of these wines takes the art form to a new level. Bravo to Don, Wendy and Jesse Lange and the wonderful staff who share your wines with us. Excellent site; excellent wine; excellent people. I must comment on the negative review. I was there when this happened. The driver was clearly frustrated for some reason and was acting out and spinning his wheels and raising lots and lots of dust. He was angry from the get go and was clearly embarrassing his wife and children. By the way, who brings three minor children to a winery? And why is he drinking and driving with kids in the car? Don tried to explain that the driver was causing problems, but the driver would have none of it. Completely disregard the driver's post. It's an aberration. This is one great place for mature, civilized people who don't spin tires on gravel roads like children. more

I have been visiting Lange Winery for many years and have always had a great experience. I am sorry that the other reviewer had a bad first visit. Don is very passionate about his wines and the people that come to try them. The other reviewer must have been really kicking up some dust that was disturbing the group. They offer wine in many different varieties and price levels. My favorites are the barrel fermented Pinot Gris, the Freedom Hill Chardonnay, and the Dundee Hills Estate Pinot Noir Be sure to pack a picnic lunch, the back patio offers great views and is wonderful place to stop and have a glass of wine and a bite to eat. I feel bad that others had a bad experience. I've been coming to Lange for 4 years now and love it there. Was out a few days ago and was treated well and even got a tour of the cellars from the staff. One of my favorite wineries. Pros: Friendly, beautiful, great wine more

One Saturday in September a few years ago at approximately 4:00 P.M. I drove my green\r Ford Ranger pickup into the crowded Lange Winery gravel parking lot. I was \r with my wife and my three little children (8 years old, 5 years old and 3 years\r old). It was my intention to sample some of Mr. Lange's wines while \r enjoying the day with my family. Boy was I mistaken. By accident, I kicking up some dust in the gravel parking lot, OK a lot of dust. I don't drive on gravel much and due to the fact that the gravel lot was \r crowed and tight I spun my wheels more than once. Unfortunately, the winery was having some \r event next to the gravel lot and the dust was blowing over to the party.\r \r The next thing I knew this guy (Mr. Lange) comes running up to my truck, \r sticking his head in my window and yelling at me in front of my wife and \r three children. It is very upsetting to children when a stranger comes running up to their \r car and aggressively yells (they thing at them) with his head in the window \r of their car. His behavior was abhorrent and despicable and all this over \r some accidental dust. I apologized about the dust but Mr. Lange kept \r yelling and repeatedly demanding to know ""what is going on"". Although Mr. \r Lange eventually invited us in, after I repeatedly apologized, my wife said \r she could never go in there after being treated like that. As we drove away \r my daughter was so traumatized she began to cry and I'd wished I had never \r come there.\r \r \r I can not recommend the winery to anyone.
