lack of knowledge and no respect for the customer 7/29/2009

I brought my brand new BMX bike into the shop to have a new crank put on for two reasons, 1. this shop was closer than my normal bike shop, and 2. the promised they could have the crank on by the end of the day. Well, by 2pm the next day the crank still wasn't on. I was told they needed a bigger hammer. Finally at around 5 I received a call my bike was done. I picked it up, went straight to the local skatepark. After about five minutes of riding I notice too much slack in my chain. I have integrated chain tensioners, so I figured I'd fix it when I got home, no big deal. Well, the chain popped on on my last landing I promptly slammed face first into the Quarter Pipe putting my tooth through my bottom lip. I went home, tried to tighten my tensioners but to my surprise one was missing completely. I called the shop, and nobody had any clue what Integrated Chain Tensioners were. Not too surprising, because there are only about two BMX Bikes in the whole shop. And the kid that worked on my bike was no longer in, so they would have him call me the next day. Next day came and went with no word. Then another, Then I called again, and was told the technician that serviced my bike was out sick. So today is Tuesday, I finally go this resolved a week after I brought my bike to them. They told me to bring my bike in and they would order the tensioners. A week later? I got the tensioners for free from Maul's Bike shop in Halifax MA. I informed them I already got the replaced, because I needed to, and he said bring in the receipt and they would reimburse me. Waste 8 bucks in gas to get a 7 dollar part replaced. Nobody could find my missing part, not surprising since none of them knew what to look for in the first place. So I will not be a returning customer, which isn't cool, because I used to buy bikes from Landry's all the time, I don't know if it's just Norwood, or if all of them have taken a turn, but this is by far the worst experience I ever had at a bike shop. I was at least expecting an offer for a refund of the $30 they charged me to break/lose my bike parts, but no, not even that. It also begs to be mentioned that I purchased this bike on July 5th, brought it to Landry's on or around the 16th. So it was a brand new bike when they broke it. They also took a huge amount of paint off the dropouts of the frame and wrecked one of the logo decals on the top tube. Brand new bike looks like I've been riding it for months. The worst part is they tried to hide it from me. The ""technician"" took the other chain tensioner, the one he didn't lose, and screwed it all the way back inside the frame so the wheel would sit evenly and it wouldn't look like there was a problem. Obviously while putting my wheel back on they noticed what went wrong, otherwise one post would be sticking out still. Bottom Line, you can't trust them. They promise what they can't deliver, and if something goes wrong and they break your parts or bike they will do everything they can to cover it up and hide it from you. Cons: everything that went down more
