This Restaurant is one that doesn't compare to anything else in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Well worth the short drive from Brainerd or the Drive from St. Cloud or The Twin Cities. Food is prepared by a professional chef and serverd in a fine dining casual atmosphere. The food has large portions and is of high quality. If you are looking for a burger or fine cusine, this is it! All of the entrees are made from scratch with special sauces for each. A nice variety in their menu. Anything from burgers to the best of walleye. Tonight I had blackened walleye with bearnaise sauce. The portions are so large, I had three take home containers. The decorating is comfortable and changed with each season. They have great food, variety of dishes, and gourmet cuisine. What they are lacking is attributed to overworked and probably underpaid staff. The owner was downright rude. They seem to pinch every penny imaginable, meaning expensive costs for you. I requested an sprinkling of parmesan cheese on my salad,and was told that they would have to charge me an extra dollar. I heard the owner lady say, as she walked away,""If I have to pay for it, why shouldn't she?"" It was absurd. they don't seem to care about anything but making money. they are consistanly understaffed, probably to save money by only having the bare minimum staff available. This in turn causes the servers to be rushed and unattentive. The food is good, but expensive. I even could hear the chef in the kitchen complaining and swaering about customers through the bathroom wall. I don't know if i just go there on bad days, but everytime i go there i am brushed aside like just another cash cow. so if your looking for good food for expensive prices and rude people, i would recommend going to The Landing. We've driven from the Twin Cities just to have dinner here. Fine dining in a cozy, casual atmosphere. The chef knows his stuff! From soup to steak, everything is fantastic. A must try is the walleye that is served with a wonderful butter sauce. The service is also warm and friendly. Just a note: make reservations for Friday or Saturday evenings as the locals know this is one of the best restaurants in the state. Pros: good portions, wonderful food more
