Editorial review from Citysearch 9/5/2012

I was a Temp at Lake Norman Eye Center for a couple months and the opportunity & experience was wonderful. The staff was warm, welcoming & knowlegeable about their job, they took the time out to give me information that I needed to not only assist me with my job but to benefit patients to make their experience as great as possible. I have an eye doctor, yet working for Dr. Angela Harris, I learned what you should get from your doctor, not only was she experienced in her job, she was very informative and assisted the patients in whatever their needs may have been, whether it was referring patients for other needs they may have with their vision to surgical doctors (Lasik, Stys etc...) to making sure patients are comfortable with their contact lenses or glasses. The staff and Dr. Harris knew most of the patients by name and made sure they received what ever their eye care needs may have been, from trial contacts to get them by to repairing glasses that lost a nose piece to being broken in half!!!!! If anyone has experienced a wait, please know that Dr. Angela Harris is the first eye doctor that I know (optometrist) that takes the time to take on emergency visits, new or established patients and takes the time to follow up with her patients to make sure that they are doing well. I highly recommend Lake Norman Eye Center because you feel more like family than just another patient. more

Waiting Game 4/27/2012

I am new in town so I found Lake Norman Eye online. It seemed like a nice and highly liked place. When I went in I spoke to the lady at the front desk and she was very genuine. Once I sat down in the waiting room, I waited about 15 minutes which is not that bad. A nice young lady named Kirsten took me to do a few eye checks and then we went into the room. She asked me a few questions and was with me about 25 minutes. She apologized for how long it was taking to ask me all the health questions since I was a new patient. She left the room and said Dr. Harris would be in shortly. I looked at the clock and then I started waiting. I waited almost 45 minutes before I was seen. That is unacceptable. I should not have to wait that long to be seen. If someone would have come in to see me and said ""I'm sorry we are running a little behind"" that would have been nice. When I was finally seen, the doctor seemed scatter brained. She almost forgot to show me the eye picture that I had taken and talk to me about it. At this point I am getting frustrated. They sized me for contacts and gave me a few free samples of a few things. Then I went to see about prescription sunglasses. Their cheapest pair was over a hundred dollars and they were not even designer! I have seen better quality sunglasses at a gas station that they wanted to charge over a hundred dollars for. I decided to wait to purchase those. I then proceeded to check out. Only to find out I had to pay out of pocket $140. My insurance covered $195 of it. I did ask to get the pictures done for an extra $35 which I was okay with. It cost $300 dollars minus the eye picture to get your eyes examined? That is outrageous and of course I had to wait! As I checking out I was told I needed a follow up appointment to check and make sure my contacts fitted properly and that I had already been charged for the next visit, which my insurance did not cover. I have worn contacts for years and I have never been asked for a follow up appointment. I had left and I had been in there for two hours! As I am halfway home in crazy Mooresville traffic I see they did not put my regular eye glasses in my bag. I had to then turn around and go and get them! Needless to say, I am not very happy with my first and last visit. The employees were very nice but the doctor seemed lost the whole time. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one was because of the nice employees and the free goodie bag. Everything else was not up par. They were very over priced and I waited way too long. If they don't respect my time then they don't deserve my money! more

Love my new glasses 10/24/2010

After looking at other offices in the area for a pair of rx frames (and being disappointed by the ugly frames) I went to this place and I sat down and they asked what color I wanted. I said tortoise and a dozen frames were given to me ? none of them ugly! The lady helping me was really honest about what looked good on my face and what did not. I used to hate glasses and just wore my contacts, now I wear my glasses every day. more

No more grandma glasses! 11/5/2008

I saw Dr. Harris and had a completely different experience than the above pt. I was wearing contacts for distance with the little drugstore cheaters on a chain around my neck. She fit me into one of the new bifocal contact lenses and now I don?t have to wear the old grandma looking glasses. I don?t know why no one ever mentioned it before now! The staff was also very helpful. When I made the appointment, they even knew that I had insurance that covered my eyes because of where I work. I work at the hospital and the insurance company doesn?t send us a separate card for the ?vision? part. Insurance covered most of my exam but their prices seemed to be in line for what I have paid at another office in the area. Pros: Helpful with insurance, up on latest styles, friendly staff more

Lake Norman Eye 7/31/2008

I went to this eye doctor, Angela Harris, recently and spent 3 times more than I ever spent at Lenscrafters for an exam. The office staff are odd in that I was trying on a pair of contacts and the woman lied about it being the same as the thinner colored contact. I don't like people who lie nor who are controlling. After all that I later decided that I wanted a different color lense. I ordered them online and the doctor would not ok the switch from Fresh Look to Acuvue which is odd because I have worn both of these colored lenses in the past without issue. The reasoning was that she prescribed Fresh Look blue not Acuvue and I couldn't even talk with her on the phone. Talk about controlling. Just so you know the difference between the 2 manufactures is thus: Acuvue B/C 8.7 or 8.3 Diameter 14 and the Freshlook B/C 8.6 Diameter 14.5. My order was not corrective; they were just for fun. At Lenscrafters I was able to order the color I wanted from either of the manufacturers. I wish I had gone to them this time, but I am new to town and won't make this mistake again. In the event you are considering this doctor keep in mind that she is very expensive and will charge you for the slightest change. I asked for a return call from the doctor, but she never returned my call. I wish I could take her to court for a return of my money I wasted on the exam. Cons: Expensive, Staff are odd socially, Not professional more
