Rockland's best kept secret (Not for long) 12/2/2008

One hot day while traveling North on Route 9W, being thirsty, hungry and realizing I was missing one of the world cup soccer games, I decided to stop just North of Rockland Lake to try a restaurant called La Tristina. I was immediately impressed by the owner, Jimmy's hospitality. He set me up at the bar, gave me a bottle of Pellegrino water on the house and immediately put on the game. Although the dining room was busy and there was a party in the outdoor tent, the service and attention I received was amazing, although I was unknown and very casually dressed. The hospitality was so accomodating that it was only surpassed by the delicious meal I had. A week or 2 later i went back with my wife and we've been hooked ever since. We have gone to La Tristina for quick casual meals, special family dinners and holidays. And everytime, I have received amazing service, food, and genuine old world hospitality. I have tried many different items on the menu, and have always been thrilled with the authentic home cooked flavors, and nuances of every dish.We decided to give La tristina a try for our son's christening. We had over a 150 people and believe it or not the service, food (abundance of food) and care during that event was every bit as good as if we were having a quiet, intimate dinner for 2. Since then, we have had our son's 1st, 2nd and 3rd bday parties there, in-laws 50th wedding anniversary and have attended weddings, sweet 16s, bar/bat mitzvah, as well as charity events, new years eve, and even superbowl parties. Everything from soup to nuts, the appetizers, specials and desserts have always been fresh and delicious. Jimmy, Peggy, Laura, Kelly, Lana, Lumar, Jinette, Gabby, Schiepe, Roberto, Sonny, and Chef Mario worked together to make everything at La Tristina a true family dining experience, wether it is a quick meal for one/two or a huge event for 300. more

La Triestina, our favorite place to go 11/22/2008

My boss asked me to find a restaurant for Secretary's Day and I called this restaurant and the owner said no problem just come in. Although the place was fairly crowded, the service was quick and courteous and the food was great. Everything was really first rate from the appetizers to dessert. We are a small office of 5 people and the girls and I have been back with our husbands/dates/friends many times since. My boss was so impressed that now the holidays are almost here, he asked us girls in the office how we'd feel about going to La Triestina for our company christmas party. We anonymously agreed. I originally heard about the restaurant from one of the girls in the gym who had her christmas party there the year before and I have been meaning to try it. Secretary's Day was a great opportunity. Jimmy ,the owner, Roberto and Sonny, the managers, and everyone who works there always make us feel right at home. The outdoor dining is great. and my fiance and I if we hadn't already booked our wedding else where before we found La Triestina would have our reception there. La Triestina is the place to go year round. And we are all looking forward to our company christmas party, we know it would be a great event for the 30+ people in our company. more

Cant say enough about this family 11/16/2008

..My husband and I planned a fundraiser last year for our sons school. (Jawonio in New City) We wanted to raise money for the special needs program their. We asked LaTriestina to help and they gave us the reataurant, FREE OF CHARGE!!! The owners, Jimmy and Peggy, supplied the entire restaurant. All the food from ,dinner to dessert was supplied by them. Whatever money was raised all went to Jawonio. I cannot thank them enough for all their support and hard work. Because of them the IDP ( Infant developemental program) was renovated ... I would recommend this retaurant to anyone!!! They are good people and will cater to your every need.. Thank-you so much for your opening your hearts to these children. We greatly appreciated all you did for us. Pros: Too much to list!!! more

ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT 11/16/2008

This is a wonderful place to go with that special someone or with your family and friends. We had many party's here and everything was superb. The staff is always so friendly and are always at the door to greet you with a warm welcome. They make you feel like family. From the appetizers to dessert, the food is outstanding!! My favorie dish is the penne ala vodka and cesear salad. I love the homemade cannoli for dessert. YUMMY!!! The prices are very reasonable and the portions are more than i can eat. Whenever we have a special event to be catered, we never think twice about where we will have it. LaTriestina is the way to go. The outdoor dining is so lovely and peaceful. .i would highly recommend ths restaurant to anyone who enjoys a fun night out , at a reasonable price, with delicious food and a dedicated family owned and operated place. Keep up the good work LaTriestina!!! Pros: Great dining experience all around Cons: none more

The owner doesn't deserve to have a business he is a liar. 12/14/2007

I just had my office holiday party there. I was so upset that when I got there after repeatedly talking to the owner about having a private room he set us up in the middle of the dinning room. Why would someone have a party for 36 people in the middle of a dinning room? Jimmy the owner said don't worry he will take care of me. So ofcourse I think that he will diffenently take something off the bill. Well I guess I was wrong, the waiter who gives me the bill says the we got the cappucinos and expressos for free. Ha, what does that cost. Bobby the waiter even figured the bill out wrong and I fixed it so he wouldn't get screwed out of the tip. When I spoke to Jimmy he said the same thing Bobby did about the free coffees and i said I wouldn't bring anyone here again and I will tell my friends what he did to me. So what does the owner of a restaurant do he tells me to have a horrible life and gives me the Italian fungel. Meanwhile the food was average and the dessert was horrible. more
