What a gem 5/22/2009

This restautant moved to uptown on Prytania. The new place is a gem! This is a great uptown comfortable place that prepares really great authentic innovated Thai dishes. The prices are very reasonable for what you get and it's hard not to notice the quality in the food. I cannot say enough great things about this place. They really have their act together and the food is always consistently excellent. Always willing to make dishes off the menu. Wonderful wine selection. Pros: Great Thai dishes more

Big disappointment!! 1/19/2009

I am an American Thai who lived in California for more than 20 years. I am going to a grad school here in New Orleans. I was definitely craving for authentic Thai food. I went to La Thai uptown since I live in the neighborhood. The food was not what I consider Thai. I guess that's why it's got the French "La" in front of it. The price was unreasonable, the waiter was kind of snobby. Lastly, a big-build Thai American guy, I think he was one of the owners, tried to ask me out. I won't go back there again. Pros: Not much. Cons: Leaves you wishing you had gotten some real Thai food. more

Uninspired Food - Very Loud 8/11/2008

The masaman curry and tofu were the worst I've had at a Thai restaurant. It was very loud and echoey, so conversation was difficult. Go to the Basil Leaf for a tastier and quieter experience. (No, I do not work for the Basil Leaf). more

Awesome crab cakes! 10/10/2006

The crab cakes are fabulous! Most places have plenty of "cake" and very little crab, but these are mostly delicious lump crab meat with very little else. I have eaten them there several times and have never gotten any shells. The food is always consistently good and the service excellent, but not to in your face! Pros: Off street parking, excellent service, live music (sometimes). Cons: A little noisy at times. more

Best Thai 7/12/2006

This is the best Thai food I have ever eaten. The manager (and maybe owner) Merlin was wonderful to us on Valentine's Day. We had just moved here and had not made a reservation anywhere. We went to this restaurant and, even though he was packed, he found us a table and seated us immediately. The service is great and the food is fantastic. Pros: Food and Service Cons: Small seating and somewhat pricey more
