So proud of me peeps! 9/19/2011

I love this place and have been a die-hard fan for over a decade! I knew ya'll when Kathy owned the joint, and love her sister-in-law, Lori! She is such a sweetheart! The turn-over with the waitstaff tripped me up for a while, and there were a couple of spells when things didn't seem quite as good as I'm used to, but lately, ya'll really seem to be making a great comeback! The consistency in your food seems to be coming back, and I still feel so at home when I visit! Thanks, you guys, for sticking in there and please don't go anywhere anytime soon! (I hate my kitchen! lol!) more

went in onmy birthday 11/16/2010

The waitress was very sweet, the soup was good, but the entrees were terrible. The chicken freid steak had the consistency of a rubber band, the gravy was sour, and the potato wa aged, and somehow the burnt butter was in a pool under it, with almost none having actually gotten onto the tater itself. the biscuits and gravy were served with potatoes which were cool to the touch, stale biscuits and more sour gravy, I was very hungry, so I ate the rubber freid steak, but my companion sent back her meal. Then the owner had the gall to reproach us for complaining. NEVER GOING BACK more

I don't mind a drunk waiter if the food is good, but 4/23/2010

I grew up on La paniche cutting my late night teeth on their fabulous eggplant sticks and country fried steak. I ate there tonight, and both were horrible. I regularly send tourists there for late night nosh, but I will no longer. In the past I enjoyed the colorful service, but drunken or wired waiters aren't any fun when the food is bad too. Pros: open late Cons: food and service sucks more

Inconsistent with Food Presentation and Flavor 1/5/2009

I was introduced to La Peniche by a friend on the afternoon of December 26, 2008. I ordered a turkey sandwich. I was surprised to see that my sandwich was beautifully made, cut in fours with toothpicks and shaved turkey. The order even came with French fries. I also ordered the Ooey Gooey Cake which was wonderful! The food was delicious and I was so full that I had to go home and take a nap. Not to mention, the customer service was impeccable.\r \r I was so excited about going to La Peniche again that I told my boyfriend about it. We decided to go to La Peniche in the evening of January 2, 2009. Our server was very personable and friendly. We ordered Shrimp Po-Boys. When we received the order, the bread was burnt on the insides and the shrimp was flavorless. I was very disappointed with the order so I asked the server to take away my plate. I reordered the delicious Turkey Sandwich which I ordered just a week before, expecting it to look just the same. I was shocked when I saw a sandwich that could have easily been made by a child. It was not cut in fours, nor did it have the same shaved turkey that was given to me only a week ago. In addition, I did not receive French fries with my order. My turkey sandwich was not ?dressed?no mayonnaise? as I requested. My boyfriend wanted some condiments to go on his po-boy but it took a while for a server to get back to us. He ended up having to go to the counter himself to get ketchup.\r \r As a cook myself, I understand that restaurant dining is 90 percent visual: the food tastes better when it looks good. Unfortunately this second outing at La Peniche has proven to me that the restaurant lacks consistency. I will not be returning to La Peniche and will tell everyone that I know about my experience there. Pros: The servers are very nice Cons: Inconsistent with food presentation. Food lacked flavor. more
