I was referred to this place by my friend who is half Colombian like me. I figured if he mentioned the place it had to be good. I was also raised in Jackson Heights, NY where there are many yummy Colombian restaurants to choose from, so my palette is tough to impress. Sure enough I was NOT disappointed.
When you walk in you see all of the beautiful decorations from Colombia. It's a small restaurant but very cozy. The server spoke English and Spanish and was very friendly.
We started off with arepas for an appetizer. Honestly, they were ALMOST as good as the ones my father make (Please don't tell him I said that! lol) Cheesy and delicious!
My go-to platter, of course, is the Colombian national dish, the Bandeja. Let me just say, that if you want to order this dish you have better come with an EMPTY stomach. The Bandeja comes with grilled steak, chorizo (sausage), chicharons (fried pork), rice, beans, a fried egg and maduros (plantains). All for 12 bucks! You can't beat that!
I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. When I think of L.A. I think of Mexican restaurants. So it's nice to have an authentic Colombian restaurant in the City of Angels. I am planning on returning tomorrow when I come to town. My tastebuds and tummy can't wait :)
