This is the best place to eat if you love home cooked Italian food! Family owned business with Mama running the show on the floor. The Husband cooks and so does another family member if not mistaken. The daughter helps out too. The family is very friendly and love to strike up conversation with all the locals! I had my wedding rehearsal dinner in the upstairs room. The service was great, relaxed and very porfessional. We are regular customers! You should call for a reservation though because they are almost always booked, especially on weekends! The Shrimp in garlic sauce appetizer is delicious! Not too much garlic and the shrimps are a good size. Sauted escarole is also delicious! Comes out nice and hot and cooked to order! A definite must order! Cold antipasto, mussels and soup of the day are also worth ordering. Two can share most of the appetizers on the menu. Some main coarses are Shrimp or chicken any way you want it and to me a signature dish of Filet of Sole Franchaise. It is to die for! You get two huge pieces in an exceptional sauce along with pasta or vegetable. The fish is very tender and not dry. Portions are a good size and you are not bumbarded with a large amount of food that needs to be taken home after the meal. Salad does come with each meal and as a previous reviewer had mentioned is not served to you. So what? I am capable of serving myself some salad come on... Dessert is also tasty. Many varieties of sorbet, cakes and Italian pastries on the menu. The cannoli actually is not as bad as previous poster also stated. Yeah there are better, but at least there is none of those gross fruit pieces in them! The shell is crisp and not soggy like some and the cream is on the tasty side too. It is Bring your own alcohol, but there is a liquor store right across the street for your convienience. So if you want a nice relaxing great home cooked meal where you can talk and have a good time, go to LaFamiglia! Won't be dissapointed! We ate here on Saturday night with a reservation and were seated right away. The restaurant is very typical NJ Italian Decorating with a great feeling of family and good atmosphere. Lots of large parties and looks as though everyone is having a good time. The restaurant is very warm in the temperature. Do not sit along the window in the corner farthest from the door you will roast. Pros: Able to sit and talk for long time, very reasonably priced and a salad comes with the meal. Cons: Food ok, you have to serve the salad yourself at the table, makes a mess, Food need updating. more
