Best

I've eaten at a lot of steakhouses in LA. Ruth's, Mortons, Mastro's, Pacific Dining Car, The Lodge, Nick & Stef's, etc.... This place is one of the best. The decor maybe not, but ...

A very Good Steakhouse 1/22/2009

I had their Filet Mignon. It was delivered on a sizzling plate and was as good as promised. Service was excellent and along with the steak, I had a garden salad, mashed potatoes and iced tea. For desert I had their strawberries. The price was within reason. Pros: Good service, food, Parking was right in the front, The buiding was the first pubelo in the area. The front doors were made from Suragos! more

VERY overrated...don't believe all the hype. 7/3/2007

On a recent visit to Palm Springs we were advised to dine at LG's Steakhouse. A friend of ours made the comparison that it was as good as a famous Beverly Hills steakhouse. So we ventured out to explore this higly recommended experience only to be very disappointed. We were there on a Monday nite. It was very quiet and were given a wide choice of tables, we had reservations but there were walk ins. We chose a booth in the front area. ( If you don't like the carnival ride the Tilt-A-Whirl, sit at a table.) We were greeted at the door very nicely and seated immediately. We were greeted by our server and given menus, water and bread. The wine list is extensive and almost overwhelming. We chose a bottle of wine and after it was served, our server, well lets just say she disappeared. We sat for a considerable length of time until she came back. Needless to say we had plenty of time and experience seeing all the salad and entrees going by for us to make a decision. We chose the tomato union salad. It was not the traditional salad you would get at a high end steakhouse. It was good and the portion large. We ordered the Crown Jewel, the house specialty, porterhouse steak. It was Ok, the tenderloin side was very good, but the strip side was tough and the edges were full of gristle. We had the side dish of asparagus which was tasty, very thick and the edges were hard and chewy. All and all, we were somewhat disappointed and have had better steak dinners at Mortons. If I were to return, I would order boneless steak and try some different side dishes. Pros: Good location, wine list, comfortable seating, nice music, good lighting. Cons: Slow service, inconsistency of meat more

Best porterhouse in CA 7/24/2006

I've eaten at a lot of steakhouses in LA. Ruth's, Mortons, Mastro's, Pacific Dining Car, The Lodge, Nick & Stef's, etc.... This place is one of the best. The decor maybe not, but I don't think you dudes will care too much for that. I ate ""LG'S Jewel in the Crown"" and it was the best porterhouse I've had. Pros: steak steak steak steak steak steak steak steak steak Cons: the restaurant looks like el torito more

GREAT FOOD - STEAKS THAT MELT IN YOUR MOUTH!!! 7/2/2006

The food and service is PERFECT!!! A place to go when you want to impress a date, family from out of town, business dinner and so on. The waiters are on top of EVERYTHING!!! The patio dinning was great for smokers in your party. (not sure if they still allow it) AAA+++ everything...except for the prices :o( I look at LG's as a VERY special occasion place for the ""Working Class"" and HIGHLY recommend it for dinner for those who can afford it more often!!! Pros: GREAT FOOD - GREAT SERVICE - DID I MENTION THE FOOD WAS GREAT??? Cons: Prices a little high - Everthing is Ala carte more

THE BEST EVER 6/3/2004

LG's was something that my husband and I stumbled upon while vacationing in Palm Springs. It was expensive and first real steakhouse that we had ever been to! What an experience! The ambiance was romantic and yet not too dark. Our service was excellent and LG himself came to every table and thanked the diners for coming in. Now that's what I can class! Our steak was soooo great and I cannot tell you how delicious the sides were. The corn we had was sauteed and fresh off the cob. I dream about that meal a lot! I would highly recommend this place if you want a romantic and nice dinner and want to spend the money on it! We ended our dinner with a yummy white chocolate raspberry cheesecake and some coffee. An Excellent way to end the day! Pros: Food, Service, Portions more

The Best in CA 5/9/2004

The only top 5 rated steakhouse in CA. The porter house is their signature dish and I highly recommend any new person to order this, rare to medium rare of course. Add a nice merlot or other red wine, you choice of side dishes and you'll be close to heaven. Having eaten at Morton's, Ruth's Cris, The Palm, various steak houses in Vegas and the Whaling Station in Monterey, CA; this is by far the best porter house there is. more

Where's the dinner ? 1/21/2004

I don't know about the rest of the country, but I am really bored with this new rage in ""steak-only"" steakhouses. When I go out to dinner, I expect more than a slab of meat on a sizzling platter. And when dinner for one tips $100, it simply isn't worth it. I don't mind spending on a great dinner, but I expect ""dinner"" for my money. I live in a resort community, where visitors don't always care about where they eat, or what it costs. After all, vacation is vacation. But locals tend to stay away from these places. Pros: Good food, Good atmosphere Cons: Expensive, Poor value more
