Best Chinese Food in Huntington Beach 5/17/2009

Always fast service. Always healthy and deliciuos. We have been searching for good chinese food and finally found it. We go at least once a week and we have a baby who gets brown rice everywhere. When we pick it up, they always say, no, no we will pick it up, don't worry. They are always really nice. My husband is a chef and extremely picky, this restaurant really impresses him because of the very fresh ingredients and the meat is always cooked perfectly. (ALWAYS) Lots of healthy options, I get garlic chicken with brown rice. Very yummy and healthy. more

Disgusted with Customer Service/Pricing 9/30/2007

Kung Pao Bowl has been one of my favorite restaurants in H.B. due to the delicious food that they serve. Recently the restaurant has undergone some changes and with that change has come a bit of disappointment. The food is good. The dishes come with a certain design that makes them looks attractive and the sauces they incorporate are very good to the palate. However, the service is LACKING in many ways. I took a group of friends out to this restaurant and I had a coupon for the first time as I never hardly ever get that opportunity and they refused to accept it. I coulnd't believe how cold the waiter and the manager were about it. They didnt want to accept a buy one get one free coupon using a technicality that was so unbelievable I could choke. I'm just glad that I presented the coupon before ordering. The waiter was rushing us and would never smile. He was just not friendly at all. The place was empty on a Saturday night.. this might be an indicator that others do not like the poor service. The manager was not apologetic about this. The bottom line was money for them. They were not ensuring quality service. I'm highly bothered by a restaurant that believes that there are no others that can replace them and offer bad service b/c they feel the food might compensate either way. The pettiness of this place was unbelievable. Thes service was very bad. For H.B. this Chinese food is pretty good. However, some other options that have good chinese and much better service would be East Winds right across the street in the prking lot where Albertson's is. Their food is good, and they are much more generous with vegetables and soups. I couldn't believe that KPB didnt serve vegetables with their Kung Pao dishes. That too is a rip-off. They also dont give you tea or soup with your meals as most sit down asian restaurants do. They charge 4 dollars extra to any dish for soup, an eggroll. Bottom Line..Good Food BAD SERVICE and high prices for extras. more

Best Chinese in HB! 10/22/2006

We've tried 'em all because we are great fans of Asian food. This place is wonderful. The food is fresh and full of whatever meat you order (not scant, as in other places which fill their dishes with sause and veggies) and cooked with the amount of fire you request. Prices are fair. It's our family Chinese ""joint."" We even had a big birthday dinner here and they handled a rowdy group of 12 just fine. Pros: The murals on the wall will make you smile. Cons: Some wait staff is better than others, but shout and you'll do fine. more

Fantastic Hole in the Wall! Best Asian food in Orange County for the price! 9/13/2006

From the name and the outside of the restaurant, you would never guess the kind of food, service, and atmosphere that awaits you. I recieved a coupon in the mail and decided to try something new. I expected cheap fast food, but was greatly surprized when I walked inside. Greeted by friendly hostess, the server was very helpful in explaining the menu, and recommending dishes for us. The French Style Steak can't be beat, Walnut Shrimp was to die for, as well as several other dishes. The restaurant is decorated with cute animal paintings( I believe from the same man that did Small World in Disneyland), not the typical chinese restauraunt. Dishes for dinner range from about $7-$15, very large portions. Very cheap for the quality of food. Great Experience. \r \r I have been back several times since my first visit. Seems like a lot of the same people eat here all the time. Restaurants with lots of happy regulars can't be wrong. more

Chinese food for Non-Asians 8/3/2006

The food here is just alright. It's basically Americanized Chinese people. The service is pretty alright except for the one lady with the short hair who works the counter. Watch out for her, she's pretty stuck up and if you give her a coupon, she'll treat you like a nothing. Pros: plenty of parking Cons: lunch specials area real rip off more

Great Chinese Food 6/14/2006

Totally did not expect the food to taste as good as it did. Staff is friendly as long as they are not busy.If they are busy you almost are forgotten about. Otherwise very nice. Lunch time is usally busy. Pros: Ambience is very nice Cons: If it get's too busy, watch out more

Amazing food! Great prices! 6/7/2006

This restaurant has the most amazing chinese food I have tasted in Orange County. Their French-style steak is the most tender filet mignon cuts I've ever had and melts in your mouth. This is definitely my favorite dish there. KPB has a pleasant environment and a cute interior design. Not the traditional Chinese restaurant I expected when I first ate there. I've been there for a quiet dinner for two as well as with large groups for a work lunch. I would definitely keep going back as long as their food has me hooked. Their prices are really reasonable too for the quality and quantity of food you get. This place is definitely worth checking out. Pros: great tasting food, reasonable prices, attentive staff Cons: limited wine selection, they close too early more

Average Food, Non Friendly Service 4/20/2006

Been here only once, but was treated really badly. I had a buy 1 get 1 free coupon and as soon as I even mentioned it, the waitress changed tunes. Got Thai Fried Rice, Shrimp In Lobster Sauce, and a Combination Appetizer. Never received steamed rice even after 4 times of asking. Seemed like they were too busy, even though there was only 2 more tables. Lobster sauce was waay to salty, and thai fried rice was nothing more than spicy fried rice. Maybe it was cuz I had coupon, but even so, they should treat everyone nicely cuz it was my first time there. Pros: Ambiance Cons: Unfriendly Service, Salty Foods, No Steamed Rice? more
