Dr. Kavorkian is more like it. 9/27/2012

This man is dangerous. He may have the degree required to call himself a doctor, but he is anything but a physician in any sense of the word. more

unprofessional, dishonest and doesn't care 4/3/2012

I was referred to him after i was diagnosed with aspergers and depression to figure out what medication i should take. He spent less than 15 minutes with me for the 1st meeting and less than 5 minutes every time i came in. He never had any idea what was going on yet was prescribing me medication. He put me on Cymbalta even though i said it was too expensive because my insurance didn't cover it and I'd rather try a generic brand or prozac. He said not to worry about the money and gave me a bunch of ""samples"". I asked if they were free and he said yes so i agreed. Then he billed me for those ""free"" samples and the ""time"" he spent with me... like 100's of dollars for that 5 minutes or less of time. But I didn't get these crazy bills until way after i had seen him so i kept going. I eventually asked to go back on prozac which i had taken before with no ill effects. But getting off Cymbalta was a nightmare. I couldn't even get out of bed for days. I almost lost my job. With prozac, he just prescribed it and then i never saw him again because that's around the time i started getting those bills for the cymbalta and earlier ""appointments"" and didn't want to be scammed out of anymore money. But he was contacted by the pharmacy every month for over 6 months to refill my prozac perscription... never actually contacting me and seeing how i was doing. I told this to doctors i saw for other things and they said it was incredibly unprofessional and just plain wrong for a doctor to be prescribing medication like that without checking in and seeing if its working or not. I would suggest seeing a professional who cares about your well being and wont try to scam you. Also.. these good reviews don't seem very genuine, I wouldn't take them seriously. Good luck on your search to find a great psychiatrist.. more

Great Doc 8/1/2010

Dr. Kumar is exceptionally knowledgeable and easy to talk to. His receptionist Peggy is the best. She's on point and accommodating. They've squeezed me in and made last minute appointment changes w/ seemingly no problem. Also, they always seem to run on schedule. I've generally only waited five minutes to be seen and my appointment never drags out as it has with other doctors. I'd recommend Dr. Kumar to anyone. Pros: knowledgeable, efficient, flexible Cons: Nothing to complain about more

An exemplary physician 10/29/2009

This physician/psychiatrist is cutting-edge knowledgeable as regards psycho-pharmaceudicals and those conditions for which they are prescribed. He is a breed apart from the average medication-management psychiatrist in that he takes the time to listen to his patients. I have never met anyone quite like him and, had it not been for a relocation and the refusal of my insurance company to let me commute 125 miles to see him once a month, I would still be with him. The one negative feedback on this site pertaining to him is unbelievably offbase and slanderous, at best. It describes someone that is NOT Dr. Kumar who happens to be an exceptionally knowledgeable and caring professional. He made a huge and improved difference in my life at a time when I needed it most. Pros: Think of anything you would want from a physician - he is Cons: NOT ONE more

Dr. Rajiv Kumar 3/28/2009

It's important for me to tell others about Dr. Rajiv Kumar. I was diagonsed with anxiety and was referred to Dr. Kumar by a friend. From talking to Dr. Kumar for the first time, I felt that he was extremely knowledgeable in his field. His knowledge of medication is truly amazing. While waiting in the lobby, I talked to a mom who told me that she drove two hours to bring her child just to see Dr. Kumar. I have referred family and friends to Dr. Kumar because I feel comfortable knowing that he will help them. He is a very easy individual to talk to and the most important...he listens. more

Appalled by This Unfair, Unjustified, Negative Review 11/15/2008

I am not sure which doctor you and your son were seeing, but I would be shocked if it were Dr. Kumar. I have been seeing him for two years and have found him to be professional, caring and empathic, and absolutely brilliant at what he does. He has helped me through horrific times, times when it was all I could do to get out of bed to go see him. And through these times, he showed the finesse and compassion that I can only wish other doctors possessed. He is a gentle man and a gentleman in every sense of the word, and he truly cares about his patients. He has gone out of his way for me many times and I feel it incumbent upon me to set the record straight here. Dr. Kumar does not deserve the disgruntled, disrespectful review you have posted on this site. If you had a bad experience with Dr. Kumar, I would be sincerely surprised. All that I can say is that he has never been dismissive of me, put my needs aside, or treated me with anything but respect and concern. In fact, he provides his cell phone number in the event that patients need to contact him at any time. And he answers his phone. I think we would all be hard-pressed to find such exemplary care from a Psychiatrist. Please consider, as you write these reviews, that you could in essence destroy an individual's reputation and take up your concerns with the doctor himself. more
