This place has been great with our oldest son. He is challenged every time he goes, and leaves satisfied with his class. Very family oriented and wonderful, understanding instructors more

Tradition Lives On 10/19/2006

Kuk Sool Won is probably one of the greatest martial arts unknown to most of the world right now. It's not only an art, it is a complete system of martial arts stemming from ancient teachings of the buddhist monks, the royal courts of Korea, and Family Tribal martial arts of Korea. From punches and kicks, to pressure points strikes and grapples, this art truly covers it all, including weapons training upon reaching first degree black belt. To top it off, this art is not only a young man's arena, it's for all people of all ages. Some families we have take it as a recreational hobby for getting back in shape together, some use it to learn self control, and of course, a lot take it to become a martial artist. The hardest part of being a good martial artist isn't kicking high, or punching fast though, its becoming a good person that tends to be the toughest. Etiquette above all else is taught to all KSW students, because it doesn't matter if you can kick the highest or break the most bones, it's being able to have the control to stop yourself from getting into trouble that helps the most, and that's where martial arts etiquette comes into play. I have been to several other martial arts centers and taken a few, I have found that this art combines everything I found in several styles into one complete style. Kuk Sool Won may not always look like its anything tough to do, but then again, if you have never walked on fire you never know how much it burns. In other words, come give it a try and see yourself become a stronger, better person. Pros: excellent instructers, superb curriculum Cons: lots of hard work ( which is really a good thing lol) more

An Explanation 10/14/2006

Martial arts is as much self respect and self discipline as it is self defense. The negative reviews that are currently listed on this site have all been posted by students at a local Martial Arts School. I will not mention the name of the school, as I would not risk the potential of my own students makiing the same mistake. I know the owner and instrucor this school and feel confident that this is not what he teaches his students. I am sure that these students felt that they were in some way helping to support their School Master, however mislead thay may have been. Please understand that these negative comments in no way accurately depict the teachings of our school, as I am sure the actions of those who submitted them do not accurately depict the teachings of their own school. Thank you, Jason Franklin Owner/Instructor Pros: Great Teaching-Family Run more

Great For My Kids 10/14/2006

I have two kids at this school and have really enjoyed the results that I have seen so far. My 8 yr old loves his instructor and will not stop asking if ""He has Karate class today."" My 3 yr old enjoys class. To my suprise I have actually seen an improvement in the behavior of my 3 yr old. I would definately recomend this program to single moms and dads looking for a little help. more

Traditional VS. Sport 10/2/2006

I have been involved with Kuk Sool Won Pasadena for a little while now and really enjoy the training. The staff and instructors have taken the time to REALLY understand me as a student and as an individual. I have read the other reviews and am quite puzzled by them. I have never seen anything to make me feel that way. This school as well as the one on Wood Forest in Channelview are family run and have brought nothing but excellent training and a new level of discipline into my life. I highly recomend them to anyone looking for something larger than just competitive martial arts. more

I Agree with first reviewer 9/1/2005

These people need help. Who gave this guy a black belt? He moves like our beginners. The only type of people who would train at this place are people who have never been in martial arts before & don't know what to look for in a school. more

businessman not martial artist 9/1/2005

These are the same people that own the woodforest school. They are more concerned with there bottom line than they are making good students. The level of the students there are lower than any school I have seen. The instructors aren't much better. Cons: expensive, bad instruction more
