KSVY f.m. first fired up a few years ago and it has apparently taken the city of Sonoma over a century to get their very own local waffle iron up and running. The station's programming bill o' fare consists of much the same as what you find in Sonoma's two local rags----local flummery and inconsequential schmooze. Well, that's fine----people have a perfectly good and Constitutional right to be meaningless....but...the FCC was out to lunch in a very bad way the day that KSVY got assigned its operating frequency. There are only about five other f.m. stations in the valley that dump their carriers out on that or almost exactly that same carrier frequency----one station in San Mateo, KCSM, which is the sole and exclusively remaining 24 hour jazz station in the entire country also broadcasts on 91.1 and just sure as Hell you can bet that Sonoma's good old KSVY tromps all over their signal. KCSM the San Mateo jazz station is definitely worth listening to---KSVY has so far shown itself eminently not to be. But go ahead and tune in if you have time to waste and judge Sonoma's very own spark mill for yourself
