Krispy Kreme - the donut that fills arteries faster than any other alleged ""food product"" in the world. They are to donuts what ""cheese products"" are to genuine cheddar or gouda. Take 'em home hot and then deep fry 'em (again) to add speed to good ol' cholesterol raising, artery blocking, life-shortening self-indulgence. What accompanies the geographic areas that have numerous Krispy Kreme stores more than anything else? Let's start with obesity then move on to diabetes and heart disease. Those oh-so sugary (and sugary and sugary) delights are better than life itself, literally, I guess. Even New Orleans' beignets, laden with cooking fats, seem more benign. I have nothing against donuts, per se, but these things are not so much donuts as they are greasy, sugared fried dough, and there is a difference. Bakery-made donuts are only moderately unhealthful compared to theses killers.
