Do not go here 4/10/2010

I came there by myself and I was awaiting a party of 3 more. I was in a hurry and wanted something quick. The atmosphere was relatively quiet, but nothing spectacular, like a run-down Chinese government agency. So I asked the waiter for mushroom and chicken and he brought it relatively fast, which was good. But when I saw the dish, it was honestly one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. The chicken was rubbery and had impurities (like pieces of skin and fat) and the mushrooms were CLEARLY not fresh, they were canned and processed cut up mushrooms. This all came with a small bowl of rice. It was also covered in some dubious viscous liquid, which the waiter told me was called "brown sauce." I've had brown sauce at other Chinese restaurants, and this one was way too light-colored and too lumpy. It tasted pretty bland and there were no vegetables or decorations of any kind. I barely struggled to eat half of this abhorrent culinary creation. When the other people in my party arrived, they also ordered things which came relatively fast. I don't remember what they had, but the vegetables were poorly cut and undercooked and the sauces on all of them were quite bland. One of my friends had something with shrimp in it, and the shrimps were stringy and scarce. But the worst part was when another person from my party found a piece of EGGSHELL in his fried rice. It was a relatively big piece too, at least the size of a quarter. This completely ridiculous discovery made us lose our appetites altogether. After having experienced this traumatic affair, the bill added up to 45 dollars, for food that was at best, sub-prime, and at worst, bordered on a health code violation. I'm not usually a critic of restaurants and I pretty much enjoy most food, but I think I can say with certainty that I'm not planning on returning here. As a side note, I didn't try their egg rolls, but I've heard this place is renowned for them. Let's just hope that it's really an egg roll, not an egg-shell-roll. more
