I love Koriente....you can have a really tasty meal that is also healthy . I have tried numerous dishes on their menu and loved each one.

Nice little place 12/29/2010

Been to Koriente once with a friend from Houston who wanted to go to a good local Austin place. I am a pastry chef and He is a chef. I Hadnt been there before but saw good reviews. Food was good small little quaint place got a choice of soup or green tea ice cream with meal. decently priced small little menu but I heard they switch it up a little, like they will add something new every now and then I guess to keep the locals and regulars intereseted. I would recomend this place. more

Quaint and easy. 3/13/2009

I fell upon this online looking for a Korean Restaurant and immediately became interested. I looked up the website and liked the way they represented themselves and went one night for dinner. By the way, this isn't traditional Korean food, it is sort of a hybrid. Hence, the non-traditional name! I really like Korean food (I think it's the DNA, lol) and this was the only one that I had the courage to go to here in Austin. I know good Korean food and my husbands mom is one mean cook, so really something like this can't compare. However, this is a pretty clean establishment and food seemed easy and fast! Korean food traditionally is not easy or fast. There are always a million (exaggeration) side dishes and service is usually poor considering Asians are not known for it here in America, lol! My family and I enjoyed the place and owner and will most likely eat there again! Pros: Fresh & fast spinoff of Korean food! Cons: It does seem to lack a bit of comfort. more

Bad food, small, crowded, loud 2/16/2009

I'm all for local businesses to sprout up in bad neighborhoods - like across from the homeless shelter like this one is - but I have no patience for poor tasting food. If I am paying money, I want to be able to finish my meal. I left most of my dish where it was. I'm an expert on sushi, bulgogi, etc, and this is NOT what you are looking for.\r \r The decor was bland, the furniture cheap, and most aggravatingly - the place is tiny. They make this very hard on their customers! It's tough to get from the counter to your seat, because they tried to fit too many tables in the place.\r \r Overall my experience here plain sucked, and I won't recommend it to anybody. I signed up to this place JUST to give it a bad rating. Heed my warning, fair lunch-goers! Pros: It's downtown (by a homeless shelter) Cons: bad food, too small, crowded, loud more

AWESOME FOOD 8/28/2008

OK the food at this place is to die for. This was the first time that I had been there and now I'm sold. The prices are GREAT and unbeatable for the quality of food that they serve there. A great selection of teas are availble as well. Its a MUST TRY sort of restaurant, so deffinetly check it out!!!! Pros: The scenery is beautiful, and the food is GREAT!!! Cons: It should be open a little bit later! more

The best restaurant in austin, period!!!!!!!!!!!! 7/22/2008

I'm going to tell you like it is. The decor is awesome, I am overwhelmed by their creativity, and dedication to that garden out front! The owners plant it and maintain it themselves! This is a family run restaurant, and the people here are so friendly, and give the best service... Some people go to places because they ""cost a lot, therefore it must be good."" This place is just too good to be true because it does not cost a lot at all. The prices for this place are exceptional, because the quality and taste of the food here cannot be beat anywhere else. I have been going to restaurants here for a long long time. This place is the top place for me. The teas are a nice touch to the wonderful flavors of all the healthy dishes. I am an expert on healthy food, as well as Korean food. I am certified, and know all about health, being good to your body, but daaaayamn! I never knew it could taste this good! Although this place is different from anywhere I have ever been, I find myself craving it throughout the week. The guy there was so cute, and charming! Get the bibimbap. Yum yum yum. There are so many things to do here... try something new, interact and talk to the nicest people on earth, have a yummy tea and icecream, fill up on ""good for you and taste so dang good"" food, look at the creative decor, learn some gardening tips from the owner, and flirt with their son. is he taken? Does he date American women? I should hope so. lol Pros: Every single thing was perfect here. Have no complaints whatsoever. Cons: Not enough room in belly! ha ha ha! it was perfect! more

I can't believe I didn't know about this place 'till now! 4/20/2008

This place is awesome! The food is terrific! Healthy, hearty and with great tea and beer choices too! When we walked in we were greeted the sweet girl behind the counter. She explained that you order at the counter and they'll bring the food to you (this was nice, because we would have just sat down and waited for a long time never noticing that there is a sign hanging from the ceiling telling you to order at the counter) The food came to our table very quickly and it was delicious! We finished our meal with some tea and ice cream (which was also delicious!) Koriente will be one of our regular spots from now on. :) Pros: Cheap food that doesn't taste cheap! Cons: Sabine is hard to find if you don't know where it is more

Yummy and healthy!!! 3/19/2008

I love this place for dinner....I just wish I could make it to lunch there more often.....Great food and good for you..nice portions(not too much or too little)..great selection of teas too. I LOVE the Jab chi with bulgogi beef....so awesome...The sweet potato noodles are awesome and the spiced beef is so delicious...I need to go there tonight!!! Pros: So good and good for you Cons: parking/location more

Casual, Classy, fun, HEALTHY and DELICIOUS! 2/4/2008

I've been going to Koriente's for about 8 months now and wow, I've NEVER been to a restaurant where the food was not only ethnic sound Korean, healthy and more importantly HEALTHY! The owners take pride in their restaurant and strive to make the place as clean and comfortable as possible. Despite it's location on 7th street, the restaurant is really hip, colorful and surrounded by BEAUTIFUL plants outside planted by the owner herself! The owner's philosophy of eating healthy as well as being healthy really shines through their food! I recommend the humus roll and mix mix with bulgogi! The ambiance is great! They have a new girl working there now that plays cds of really good house and hip hop music. She's really funny, nice and makes great suggestions! She got me hooked on the humus rolls! more

Wonderful Restaurant, No Complaints 7/19/2007

I cannot come up with anything negative to say about this place, and that's pretty impressive considering some of the other reviews I have posted. The owners are very very friendly, they always get the food out very quickly, and of course, it's wonderful. I never would have guessed that vegetables could taste so good! Some of the decor is hilarious also, like the life size Barbie with the words ""tea tea"" on her. more

Awesome place! 6/19/2007

This place is amazing! I've been a couple of times, and I have never once been dissapointed. Staff is super friendly, food is super fresh, prices are reasonable. The only con is location. Sure, it's downtown, but not in the nicest part. They have an awesome vegetarian entree as well. Pros: Veggie option, fresh, good tea selection, friendly service Cons: Close to scary highway underpass more

Wonderful food at a great price 3/6/2007

Stumbled on this place and what a find! The spicy chicken bulgogi (kind of a stew) was amazing, as was the Friday-only Lemon marinated salmon. Very reasonable, to boot! Pros: Fresh taste and quality Cons: potential to be crowded more

The healthiest Oriental food in Austin 2/20/2007

Best place for lunch or dinner! 2/15/2007

I love Koriente! The lunch value is amazing with free salad and Miso soup. The dishes are delicious and fresh. The owners are very nice and you should go check out the beautiful garden they are cultivating across the alley. Highly recommended!!! Pros: Tasty, value and fun more

Fantastic! 1/24/2007

Great environment, great food, and great service! That pretty much sums up Koriente. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive lunch consisting of good eats in a chill environment. more

Delicious Food, Friendly Owners 11/13/2006

I went to Koriente and had a bad cough...the lady who owns the restaurant made me some hot tea with honey and sent over some samples of vegetarian plates.\r The food was delicious and the owners (husband and wife) were very kind, gentle people.\r Go to Koriente!!! more

Healthy AND delicious....this place RULES!!! 11/9/2006

I LOVE this place and have been there many times since my boyfriend and I discovered it a few months ago. The food is wonderful and not loaded down with lots of oil and soy. The seasoning is nice and delicate unless spicy is requested. The sauces they offer on the side are faboulous, too. The side dishes are awesome....try the Hummus Rolls, mmmmmmm! The atmosphere is elegant inside and the patio out back is relaxed. The people there are so friendly and always asking for opinions and advice on their dishes. There's also parking which is soooo rare downtown!!! It's very nice to have this healthy alternative to late night dining. (Not to mention the beautiful garden outside instead of dirty sidewalks.) Long live Koriente!! Pros: Everything Cons: Not open 24 hours!! more
