Koreana kitchen in Walnut Creek 7/24/2009

People keep knocking this place 'cause it's not authentic, but for an inexpensive, tasty, filling lunch, and in a clean place, its a GO for me and obviously for others since there are always people in there, even after lunch time. I don't think they're attempting to keep it authentic, they're trying to stay in business and cater to people's tastes in the area. It works. and yes, I've had 'authentic' Korean food many times and it's delicious too! Pros: Good food, filling portion, and priced right Cons: Not exactly authentic more

Korean BBQ in downtown Walnut Creek 7/6/2009

Trying to figure out what to eat for lunch this past Monday since I did not brown-bag, so found myself @ Koreana Kitchen for lunch. LOCATION & SERVICE: In downtown Walnut Creek on Bonanza St (w/ other restaurants like Fujian, Havana, & others). Spacious/Clean restaurant with pleny of tables & booths for folks to sit & dine, pus friendly staff. I've only been here during lunch time; not packed for a wkday lunch time, but not empty either. MY LUNCH: I got the #1 BBQ chkn plate. Didn't really care for their salad (sliced carrots, broc, & cabagge), but their short grain rice had a nice stickiness to it, & the chkn was chared nicely on the outside, yet juicy & tender on the inside w/ every bite. If I had taken this dish home, I likely would've enjoyed this Korean meal Filipina style & ate w/ my hands *tee-hee*. This BBQ Plate was pretty large, so I didn't eat all of it; I can tell u already 1-day left overs were A-ok ;-) Final tab was $8.19. Would I come back? Pooossibly...as I got my BBQ Plate another patron picked up some bubbly/boiling soup that smelled really good & looked enticing...might come back for that. ------------------------- MENU as of 6/29/09 BBQ Plates include rice & salad range ($7.50 - $9.50) --* BBQ chkn / beef / short-ribs --* Hot pork / honey BBQ chkn --* Breaded cutlet: chkn / pork --* Lemon chkn | Calamari katsu | Unagi Rice Bowls ($6.95 - $9.95) --* Chkn / beef / hot pork / temura rice / unagi --* Curry: beef / chkn / tofu --* Vegetable: beef / chkn / tofu Noodle Soups include vegatables ($6.50 - $7.95) --* Chkn / beef / pork / fishball / wonton / saimin / garlic / stir fried / shrimp Udon *white noodles* or Soba *buck wheat noodles* ($7.50 - $8.95) --* Veggie / chkn / beef / tofu / seaweed / shrimp / seafood / tempura / zaru Pros: Spacious & clean restaurant with good food more

Where carnivores and vegetarians can get along 1/31/2006

If you have a jones for barbecue-style stuff, this is just the ticket. Not dried-up, not charred, just (still) generous amounts of beef, chicken or pork in either noodle or rice bowls or plate combos. Spicing is neither in the sweet nor salty extremes, and seems to please everyone I've taken there. If you need a dose of heat, a small dish of kimchee is included unless they've run out. There's also a great variety of noodle dishes, (Japanese) udon or soba. They also have tempura, again in generous amounts. Both are a cut above every which way in what you can get in most of the Japanese places downtown. This is a ""must try"" neighborhood place; nothing fancy, just good. Pros: takeout, value Cons: parking at lunch more
