New name, new owners, great service and food 1/24/2009

korena has new owners and a new name. The new name is the Galbi House, same location, new owners and a brand new attitude. The food was plentiful and very very good. The service was outstanding and the new owners are going out of there way to make this the best korean restaurant in Nashville. If you have never experienced korean food, please do yourself and your family a favor, stop in and try a few of the many meals they offer. If this is your first trip we might suggest "bulgogi", a thinly sliced marinated beef that everyone will truely enjoy. There are numerous side dishes so you can sample one or all of them to find one that you enjoy most. My family and friends enjoy them all. Pros: great selection of menu items, not expensive for a gourmet meal Cons: none more

Great Korean Food! 2/22/2008

After reading the other reviews my wife and I decided we had to try it. The food was delicious and priced very well, and the service was great, unlike another report on this establishment. After all there are ringers on the end of the table to alert the staff that you need something. I appreciate this type of service more than normal american eats where they are always looking at you and seem to ask you questions the moment you take a bite. The appetizers (ponchon) were delicious and refilled as needed. I spent a year in Korea while serving in the Army and rate this as authentic and well worth the trip!! We didn't try the sushi, so I cannot comment on this portion of the service or food. If in Clarksville, TN check out Momo's near Ft. Campbell they are a great Korean barbecue too. more

Some of the Best Korean Food in Nashville 2/22/2008

Koreana is a great place to eat if you like Korean food or even if you have never tried Korean food. The servers don't speak English very well but the food is excellent. If you are expecting Japanese or Sushi this is not a Japanese restaurant. It is a Korean restaurant. It makes me mad when people go to any asian restaurant and think they should get sushi or General Tso's Chicken and when they don't get that they get confused. Get educated about food. There are different types of asian food and Korean is great. Koreana is an excellent example of Korean food. Pros: ingredients, selection, authenticity Cons: no speaka da english berry well more

Excellent KOREAN restaurant, NOT JAPANESE! 6/15/2007

Note to backwards folk, especially EXFROGGYMAN or whatever: KOREANA IS NOT A JAPANESE SUSHI RESTAURANT!!!!!!!!!!! STOP WRITING REVIEWS AS IF IT WERE !! Koreana is a FANTASTIC Korean restaurant! The Korean food they prepare is second to none in all of Nashville and perhaps in all of Tennessee. I have spent over a dozen years in Asia, my wife is Japanese, and I love Asian food. Koreana is a very good Korean restaurant that serves authentic Korean food and tries its hand at a few Japanese dishes. THIS IS NOT A SUSHI RESTUARANT! If you want sushi, go to Ichiban or Shintomi. If you want GREAT KOREAN food, go to Koreana. I love it and eat there as much as possible. If you don't know anything about Korean food, go somewhere else and leave room at this place for people who know what they're doing. Pros: Outlandishly good Korean food Cons: can be a bit smoky (from the tabletop grills) if that kind of thing bothers you more

Horrible 8/30/2006

We go here sit down to eat and the waitress understands no english. They lost me then but then after looking at the menu they carry very little sushi and it is expensive. Needless to say we did not eat here and I recommend everyone to do not waste your time if you like sushi go somewhere else this place has no selection. Pros: None Cons: Everything sucked!!! more

Great food but poor service 3/1/2006

I have to admit that Koreana has the best sushi I've tried in the Nashville area but the service is so poor that I am reluctant to ever go there again. Last time I was there, my dining companion and I were seated for 20 minutes before the waiter even acknowledged us. Having worked my way through college in the restaurant business, I find that type of service completely unacceptable. The hostess was quite rude and never spoke to us at all - she just kind of pointed us in the direction of a free table. Pros: food Cons: service more

Gotta Get the Bulgogi! 11/6/2002

I'm very picky about food, but I love Koreana! If you aren't and adventurous eater (I'm not), then stick to the barbeque page on the menu. You can't go wrong there -- beef, shrimp, pork, chicken -- absolutely the best marinades ever! The meat is very thin and grills up great. Make sure you request a barbeque table and you can grill your on meat, which is worth it! Don't be afraid to ask questions about how to eat the food. I also recommend the green tea ice cream or red bean ice cream (yes!-- for real, it's good!). They are never crowded. I also hear their sushi is good, but you will need to call ahead and make sure the sushi chef is there that day. Pros: Unique food, Grill built in table, Never crowded more

Watch out for the radish! 7/28/2002

Being someone of Southern origin, I was a little nervous at first about what I was about to eat. But, to my pleasant suprise, the food here was excellent. It is an acquired taste to get used to some of the spiciness of the cuisine, but it was a very enjoyable meal. more
