Kootenai Animal Hospital

We've used Kootenai Animal Hospital for many years, with many of our pets. Dr. Rogers has been our primary vet and always takes great care of our pets. He actually diagnoses and even researches when necessary to find the answers, and listens to our ideas.I feel like we 'work together' rather then just being told something with no explanation. They have always given great service at very fair pricing. Highly recommended! \r Tip to others out there...\r Always tell your vet every detail, no matter how minor. Animals can't talk, they need us to relay the information. more

Very Cold and they were very sneaky..We took our dog in for a broken leg and the vet misdiagnosed it so we were told the future surgeries would be included in the $1500 we had to pay. Two different occasions we got charged more for medication. When they told us the future visits were included they should have mentioned we would still be paying for meds. The vet also yelled at me saying his vet tech saw me let my dog run around in the parking lot after her surgery but i NEVER set that dog down from the car to the clinic..Receptionists were cold and we will NEVER go back after this final surgery is done!! more

My husband took our German shepherd into the vet at 4am because out of nowhere he got really sick. The receptionists were unfriendly and the vet himself was cold hearted, barely ran a test or seemed interested in finding out why my dog was sick. Just gave us some pills and said he had a tummy ache. He was throwing up constantly with severe bloody diarrhea! My husband got home and had no idea what was wrong and what the pills were for! So I called them and they were so rude, the vet sounded like he could care less that my dog wouldn't eat, drink and locked his jaw shut so I couldn't put anything in his mouth. I called again to have them transfer his records to my usual vet and they got very snotty with me. Sorry, but if your going to disrespect both of us and our sweet sick dog, then I'm never going back there. I've never written a review for anything in my life but I think others should know! I'm furious. 1 test and 2 bottles of medicine and I'm down $300 and have to go to another vet. more

Dr Rogers and his staff are amazing with small animals. Everytime I bring my 3 wheeler collie he is treated with the upmost respect and never nervous. I would bring any my pets and livestock for medical needs. more

I have no complaints. Yes, the prices may seem high, but not any different than others. As a matter of fact, today, they could have done some tests on Parvo, but explained that there were no symptoms, so it would be a waste of money to take the test. I really appreciated that.\r I find the staff and receptionist to be very friendly and helpful. more

We have actually had two horrible experiences at this vet. I will never ever take another pet to them. The first experience we had a severely injured dog from getting hit by a car. We knew she probably wouldn't make it and they insisted on trying every treatment they had. However, after 24 hours she got even worse. However, our bill was over $1000, FOR ONE DAY!!! They did ridiculous tests, x-rays, etc, for a dog they knew wasn't going to make it. The second visit, we had a dog with a skin infection. I brought her in and the receptionist was very rude and simply annoyed with us. They took her back and said they would call me when they finished looking at her. When I came back they brought her out to me and handed me a bill for $350. Didn't tell me what they did to her, why she got the infection, nothing. Just handed me the dog and the bill. I asked to speak to the vet that looked at her and he was just as bad as the receptionist! He acted like all my questions were putting him out. I wi more

I have only been here a handful of times with my cousin, either to pick up or drop off one of her dogs. The staff is always nice and helpful and very quick to assist. However, it's very dark in there, which seems very odd to me, I like bright places! Plus hteir prices are VERY high in my opinion. I wouldn't bring my own pets here for those two reasons. more

It is very affordable and they have a lot of fun things for all different kinds of pets. They are hardly ever busy so it leaves them a lot of time to truly help their customers and they do a great job. The groomers at Groomingdales seem to love what they do. They always greet you with a smile and treat your pet like it was their own baby. I am always asked how I want the grooming done and ask when I need to pick my dog up instead of tellling me when I can pick him up. The price for grooming is standard for most groomers.
