Kool Korners is coming back ! 9/2/2009

Kool Korners is opening again in the same location! The old building was demolished and is being replaced by a newly constructed building. They just put up a HUGE Kool Korners sign on the construction site!!!! I hope the sandwiches will be the same!!! Pros: Best cuban sandwiches ever more

Good bye 8/28/2008

If you never had the chance to experience you have definitely missed out on one of Atlanta's hidden treasures. I was stunned to hear of its closing. In the days of fast food, fast service, and fast attitudes this place was an island in a sea of confusion. The Cubans are (were) fantastic! The service was great! People were friendly as if they came from your hometown. I am going to miss Kool Korners. Please, if there is any chance of opening elsewhere, lets not keep it a secret. Thank you Kool Korners for your service to our community. God Speed. Pros: Food, Service, People Cons: not open late enough in the afternoon more

I am very sad that this place is closed 7/23/2008

I just got off the phone today 7/23/08 at 11:45 am with the owner, and he sadly told me that Kook Korners will be closed for good. Of all the years at Georgia Tech and even after college, every opportunity I got to pass 14th street, I would always buy 5 originals, and take them back home with me and even share with my friends. This place will be missed. Thank you for all the years of fantastic Cuban Sandwiches that I will cherish throughout my lifetime.\r \r \r On a side note, the owner did mention that he will be looking elsewhere for a possible new location to open in the future. Lets keep our fingers crossed... \r Pros: best cuban sandwiches Cons: not a sit in... just order and take out.. more

Return of the Kool 6/9/2008

Is it possible that one sandwich could have the unilateral control to satisfy your particular and sometimes picky taste-buds? Is there such an existing sandwich that can send you off into quantum leaps with just one bite?\r Well if you?re the adventurous type when it comes to challenging your spice tolerance, ?Kool Korners? is the place for you.\r Conveniently located midtown on 14th street/State, just on the outskirts of Georgia Tech University, ?Korners? is a Cuban sandwich shop dedicated to serve your lunch-time needs from 10:30am-4:00 pm. \r My favorite sandwich is the classic, which features an excellent combination of ham, roast beef/pork, cheese, jalapeno peppers and their vintage special Cuban sauce complemented with fresh oven-toasted bread. \r Every time I come into the unassuming white store, I instantly hear Sergion Mendes? song ?pais tropical? to set the tone. And with that first bite I can live vicariously through a sandwich and pretend I?m in Cuba on vacation. Believe me, it?s not just lunch: it?s an experience! \r Pros: Prompt, personable, and friendly customer service Cons: Not a place where you can sit down and eat upon ordering food more

Great Sandwiches, LOW price 10/11/2007

I'm not cuban, I've never been to cuba, heck, I've never been to Miami. I'm not the one who can tell you if this is THE authentic cuban sandwich or not. But I've never been one to get upset about authenticity. Is it tasty? This is one darn tasty sandwich. Order the classic and get there at lunch time when they're making them fresh. If you're driving down 14th street in the morning, roll down your window and you'll smell the pork roasting. This is good stuff, one can only hope they can keep from getting pushed out of their location by all the development in the area. Pros: Great value, great sandwiches more

What Is A Cuban Sandwich? 7/13/2007

If one makes a hamburger and add your favorite spices & fixings what would you call it? A hamburger. Well, If you ask me, a Cuban Sandwich is a Cuban Sandwich. Period! It matters not if it has peppers, onions, etc..., Its a Cuban Sandwich! And the Cuban Sandwiches at Kool Korners are The Best Cuban Sandwiches I have ever consumed!!! \r \r You can't doubt that!!! Pros: The Food!!! Cons: Take a bite and you will forget any drawbacks! more

World's Greatest Sandwich 5/3/2007

All this talk about ""authentic""...Go to Cuba and order a Cuban sandwich. You'll get dry, stale bread, a couple slices of meat and a slice of cheese. Served cold. Authentic or not, Kool Corner's version of the Cuban is the best sandwich I've ever had. more

fantastic! 11/18/2006

They make some of the best sandwiches in town.\r WHO CARES about ""authentic""? That's not what it's about!\r Do you like your food?\r Then shut up! more

Pretty Good 10/7/2006

My husband is Cuban so he is pretty picky. We both had a traditional cuban without onions and peppers. It was good but I can't say it was 100% authentic (they put lettuce & tomato and onions & peppers on the sandwiches). The owner is Cuban and very nice. We will definately go back. more

its all about the Cuban Sandwich... that is it!!! 9/27/2006

Cuban Sandwich, Cuban Sandwich... don't worry about the location, cleanliness, clientelle... Just order your sandwich and go home or back to work and enjoy the best in the city (ok just my opinion!) Pros: Cuban Sandwich.. Inexpensive Cons: cash-only, take-out only.. lines at lunch... still well-worth waiting for the best sandwich though! more

Best Cuban Sandwich hands down!! 8/23/2006

The review give by mmorton is crazy, he has no idea what a good cuban sandwich is. The owner I know and have eaten there many times. The sandwiches are as authentic as you can get it. They are the best. Pros: The food more

great cuban sandwich 7/5/2006

When you arrive at Kool Korner for the first time you will be thinking that the business has been closed for 20 years. Don't let the rundown abandoned looking building scare you off. Go ahead and push open the door slowly (you might accidently bump some big looking cuban guy like I did). The line can be quite long at lunch, but unlike so many other places the staff actually understands that people have limited time for lunch and hurries everyone along. Sandwiches are resonably priced, especially given how much meat you get. The best is when the old guy comes out from the back and tells a few jokes while you are waiting in line. Pros: great sandwich, fast service, friendly staff Cons: no eating area, weak airconditioning more

Great Sandwich 2/27/2006

Went with a friend for a quick lunch after hearing this place had a good Cuban. I've lived in the Miami area prior to coming here and was very impressed with the sandwich. Just a little shack but the people were great and so was the Cuban. A bit different with the addition of the peppers, but awesome good. more

not a cuban 11/20/2005

while the cuban was a good one, it was not a real cuban sandwich. i was surprised upon ordering my sandwich when they asked me what i wanted on it. lettuce? jalapenos? that's not a cuban. more

best Cuban sandwich around 1/28/2005

Even though it's a small grocery store turned into a ""to go"" sandwich shop, it's well worth a 25 mile one way drive downtown for one of their Cubans. Drinks and a small selection of chips are optional to accomodate their ~ 8 types of sandwiches. There are no tables but there is one outside, so expect to eat in your car. Expect a line during and after lunch. Pros: best Cuban sandwich, worth waiting for, Atlanta staple Cons: no tables more

Best Sandwich 6/5/2003

Kool Korners offers the best cuban sandwich I have ever had. If you ever get a chance to drive by 14th street before 4pm, drop by and get a sandwich. You won't regret it! more

cuban perfection!! 12/14/2002

Kool Corner has been an Atlanta mainstay for 20 years and is truly one of our best kept secrets. If you know it's there and have a tastebud in your mouth, you love their food. If you don't know it's there, you're either a recent transplant or should get new friends. more

Goodness... 8/1/2002

This is the best sandwich in Atlanta! Grab a sandwich, a bag of plaintain chips and a cold soda and eat outside. Pros: quality of food Cons: small space more
