I grew up in Lewisville but now reside in Austin, which being close to Fredericksburg, I have grown accustomed to certain standards when it comes to Kolaches. Kolache Depot Bakery was a pleasant surprise when I patronized them on a recent visit home. The line was out the door (which has to tell you something) but it moved quickly and the staff were efficient and friendly. The Kolaches were hot, fresh, and tasted like the real thing - not "pigs in a blanket" style served by most donut shops - but the real McCoy indeed! I recommend the sausage & cheese but my family also like the fruit-filled kolaches so try a dozen of each as they are reasonably priced.
