Best Kept Secret in NYC 5/17/2009

Nestled on a quiet and unassuming UWS block, Koch Antiques is the best kept secret in New York City. With an exceptional mix of vintage and modern furniture and an eclectic variety of accessories to add warmth and charm to any space, there is always something for everyone. After discovering Koch Antiques in 2005, I have never turned back. Following a gut renovation, my entire apartment has since been furnished with items from Koch Antiques. The beauty of Koch is the variety of inventory and the uniqueness of each piece. My living room has been decorated with everything from a European Art Deco mahogany dining room table to a glass topped, chrome legged coffee table. Add to this mix six 1970s steel chairs and two lucite bar stools and you have the perfect blend of contrasting yet complementary decor. These items highlight only a few of the pieces purchased from Koch Antiques over the years. Of course none of this could have been possible without the incredible value ascribed to these items. When you can purchase the two lucite bar stools for a quarter of the price offered at places like ABC Home, you know you have found a gold mine. Their prices are simply unbeatable. Oh, and don't forgot that Koch is a great place to find one of a kind presents for weddings, engagement parties, showers, etc. Finally John (the owner) and Kevin are exceptionally talented and have unrivaled knowledge in their field. They are honest, fair, reasonable and fantastic to work with. Overall, I could not recommend Koch Antiques more highly. Just be sure to check out the store as often as possible as their turnover is high and you don't want to miss anything! more

John Koch Antiques 2/7/2009

The store has changed hands and the place is a treasure trove. I find myself visiting every week because they do such a high turnover. This is a rare find, especially these days of shrinking small neighborhood store. The quality and service were excellent, but the prices are worth the trip alone. I read a negative review earlier, I can't believe they were in the same store I visit. A rare gem in the neighborhood...the entire city. more

Charming country antique store smack in the big city 8/20/2005

Something about the Koch McErlain storefront is reminiscent of a gray fall day in New England, and it beckons you inside. The NYC branch is not as large as its Summit NJ sibling, but it covers an impressive swath of UWS ground. Browse the ever changing jumble of furniture, accessories, silver, porcelain and architectural details for unique gems. Authenticity isn't cheap, but the prices are fair. Among the predictable tilt-top tables, old upholstered chairs and divans, and artfully tarnished mirrors, you may spot charmingly weathered balustrades, old wall-mounted spice racks, and fur hats. Some fine bureaus, rocking chairs, and nesting tables are perennial denizens of the shop. The proprietors are knowledgeable and ready to answer your questions. They also do estate buying. more
