Best

Love Kobe, some of the best rolls in town. We eat lunch at Kobe at least twice a week. Service is sometimes slow but worth the wait.

I frequent a few sushi restaurants, and Kobe has happened to be one of them. Going there, the atmosphere was great and I was expecting food of the same level. However, after ord...

I'm not sure what all the negative reviews are here, this place was excellent. We made a reservation for 2 on a Friday night at 6:45, and were seated right away. The waitress was prompt and attentive, and we had drinks and water within minutes. There were some others at our table, which is to be expected at a hibachi restaurant, but they were friendly. We ordered the sirloin steak and the scallops. We also opted for the fried rice (totally worth the extra 2 dollars). The chef came out very shortly after we had ordered, and he was excellent. Very engaging, put on a great show, and the food was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, perfectly flavored, everything I expect from hibachi and more. Will definitely go again. more

We received great service and the food was fresh and delicious. Hibachi servings are generous and there were a lot of variety with rolls, sushi and sashimi. more

We went here on a Saturday night for a date night, and had a great time. The hibachi experience is a little cheesy, but it was perfect for a date, and we sat with another couple and a family that made the entire dining experience very entertaining. We started with the Edamame and Shumai apitizers, and both were delicious. The Hibachi shrimp and steak dinners were delicious, fresh and of course fun to watch being made! We did not partake in the sushi bar upstairs, but the Hibachi dining was in a dining room downstairs, and despite the lack of atmosphere, it was fun to watch the food being made and the chefs and servers were all delightful. I would definitely recommend this for a fun and unique date night, a fun night out with friends or even a cool experience for families. more

I live in Richmond and wanted to make sure that this restaurant got it's due. It's easily my favorite restaurant in Richmond. My fiancee and I go at least twice a month.\r \r FOOD:\r The food is great. Much better than any of the ""chain"" japanese hibachi style places you'll find. Each entree comes with a salad, soup and shrimp appetizer. The filet melts in your mouth and is easily worth the $2-3 more than the regular steak.\r \r ATMOSPHERE:\r Very intimate for a hibachi style restaurant. The hibachi tables are downstairs. Upstairs you will find regular entrees and sushi and a really big bar. Great flavored sake here too. Mango is great!\r \r SPECIALS:\r Monday is half price entrees upstairs and Tuesday is half price sushi. The entrees upstairs aren't as good as the ones prepared hibachi style at the tables downstairs so I wouldn't recommend eating upstairs unless you like sushi or don't have the time to commit to a long meal.\r \r STAFF:\r Wonderful. Great people with a family like atmosphere. Ask for Judy as your server and June as your chef (our favorites and tell them Pete and Shannon sent you!) more

I went to Kobe a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the whole dining experience. The atmosphere was very calm and our server was excellent. The ginger salad was very good and my boyfriend really liked the miso soup. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and it came with rice, fried sweet potatoes, and some other vegetables. Everything was really good except my chicken was overcooked. I didn't mind because the sauce was very good and the vegetables were fantastic. I would definitely reccomend this place! more

Came to Kobe to meet a friend on a quiet Tuesday night. There are two levels; the upper- with regular tables and a sushi bar, and the lower- with hibachi tables. The ceiling was painted a galaxy blue, and plenty of ambient lighting. We ordered a sushi boat, which was plenty for two people. We struggled to finish it all. But it was all so yummy, we had to! They have a nice selection of alcohol. I would definitely want to try their hibachi out next time. Can't wait to go back! more

I've been to many different Hibachi restaurants before, but this was my first time at Kobe.\r The food was excellent and I highly recommend the sushi - very fresh and flavorful. The Hibachi was also excellent. more

It is really true about people complaining with waitresses however I found it very reasonable when I got to know that kobe is one of the restaurants that support college students by hiring them. And foods are delicious! And it is well worth waiting. Hibachi usually take long time and plus with performance = more time. I don't know why people don't eat up-stair if don't want to wait for hibachi.. because they do hibachi upstair too. I want to give kobe 5 stars more

We have tried numerous Japanese restaurants in the area looking for authentic Japanese food (We are from NY) Kobe is the closest to authentic Japanese food that we have found in the Richmond area. Their Terriyaki, Hibachi, and tempura are excellent. Haven't had the sushi but I'm sure it is delicious as well. We live in Short Pump and drive down to the bottom just for the food. more

I've been there twice on work dinners and both times we were very happy. We all got hibachi and ordered some rolls and/or sushi to share. I'm not sure about all the negative reviews but all the sushi we had was delicious. I ordered the shockoe roll both times because I loved it so much, just be careful. It's one of the fried rolls with cream cheese in the middle and it's molten hot when it first comes to the table. Def let that one sit for a while. I know all the sushi buffs don't believe in these kind of rolls but we ordered straight sushi as well and really enjoyed it. The hibachi was scrumptious as well, I didn't hear any complaints and I think we got just about 1 of everything on the menu.\r \r So far, this has been the best sushi I've found in Richmond so I'll be back for sure. more

Went there with a friend who's been raving about it for months, and I must say it did not disappoint. We had the hibachi for dinner... splitting a shrimp and a chicken entree. Delicious. Had a sushi roll upstairs with our sake, also delicious. Had a wasabi mary after dinner, and it was amazing. Wow, I really liked this place, can't wait til I'm back in Richmond so I can go again! more
