Great bar food and beers on tap 11/25/2007

I stopped by looking for a place to watch a game and get a bite to eat and was very surprised by my experience here. They had many tap beer options to choose from and the food, by far, exceeded my expectations. I tried the calamari and the ribs and was very impressed the with quality, quantity and price of my dinner. With several flat panels posted throughout the bar, I was able to see 3 or 4 screens from my seat. This is a great place if you are visiting in the wharf area. Pros: Great bar food and tap beers more

  • The Scene
Located inside Rickey's, Knuckles is one of the better sports bars in the area. Locals mingle with hotel guests over Budweisers and potato skins. Sixteen televisions dominate the decor, but there's also a large stone fireplace to light up the rare night when there are no sports on TV. The bar also has a pool table, pinball machines and video games.

    The Food
It's a better bar than it is a restaurant. Part of the problem is that the menu attempts to cover too much ground--pan-seared chicken with wild mushroom risotto is offered alongside a Reuben sandwich. However, the menu boasts that the restaurant has "the best chowder around" and the rich, creamy New England-style offering is mighty fine. The wings carry just the right spicy kick. The Knuckles burger is a big, meaty offering, requiring two hands and numerous napkins. End the meal with the signature chocolate thunder cake.
