A decent golf course in the NY metro vicinity..For the city residents, a perfect place to golf. It might seem a little not upto the standards for people who've played different courses around the nation. But a great place to get away from the city crowd. Outstanding staff and nice management. more

a fine golf course 7/18/2011

the poster before me obviously has some nut against this course....it's a fine golf course for the beginner to intermediate player...it is well kept....granted, we never saw a marshall but who cares....there's a beverage cart, lots of hills and open fairways..it's a short course so with a cart one can get a round in in about 4 hrs...also,on the 11th green there is an awesome view of midtown manhattan....the staff were very friendly and i recommend this course if you don't want to travel far from the city more

Terrible golf course 7/3/2011

I played here many times when I was beginning to play in 2003-2005. I played many other courses after that and last year (2010) read some good reviews about Kissena. Allegedly it was under new management and in much better condition. I decided to give it a try for the old times sakes. To begin with, I got paired up with a couple of guys who started smoking pot shortly after we began to play. There wasn't a single ranger around and no one gave a crap, but I guess that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was the course. After all, I was there to play golf. The course was worse than any other course I'd ever seen in my life, including local par 3 courses. Fairways and greens barely have any grass on them. Players don't even think about repairing their ball marks and I've seen people drive up their carts right on greens! The majority of players are beginners who dont know when to yell ""fore"" (and they need to after pretty much every shot) or what to do when someone else does, so it also happens to be a dangerous place to play. Also remember, this is par 64 but the management still charges you the same price as the rest of the courses in NYC area. The only good thing about it is it's easy to get a tee time. If you're only starting to pick up the game it may be a good place to get a feel for a golf course, but if you shoot in low 100s or better stay away. more
