If I had the choice between going back in time to kill Hitler and putting these poor excuses for human beings out of business, I would be gassing them off the map with Zyklon B.
I left my little bichon, Marty, in their care while I traveled to Poland to attend my sister's funeral. While I was away, I left specific instructions on how to care for him. He had recently had a polyp removed from his neck, needed medications and an antibiotic salve applied to the wound, and his collar-of-shame kept on him at all times.
The owner assured me that they had extensive experience caring for sick animals, and I had very little time to check their references. It turns out all the testimonials on the site date back to the previous owner -- a fact I did not learn until too late. The new owner has run a slipshod operation for the past five or six years, and when I returned, poor little Marty had not been given his meds ONCE, the antibiotic cream was nowhere to be found, my bed smelled, the sheets were unchanged, there were empty beer bottle EVERYWHERE and his little collar was broken and crumpled in the trash.
There was no call placed to me, no supervision of the sitter, Marty was running a fever, his suture was suppurating and he needed emergency care at the vet's and hydration, which cost me a total of three thousand dollars.
I am still considering pursuing legal action against these creeps. They claim the sitter was a new employee (don't they run background checks?), would not refund my money, would not reimburse me for Marty's emergency care, and basically took the approach of turning all the lights off and pretending they weren't home.
If you value your home, your pet's safety and your peace of mind, DO NOT CHOOSE THESE PEOPLE. There are probably worse people in Evanston, but you won't meet them outside of prison.
