Place is looking better than ever! The owner has made great improvements!

Worst

Dirty, dirty, Dirty!!!! Disgusting beyond belief. Weird Hours, closes at 8 or 9 on weekends. Dreary, depressing owners. On its last legs. The Empire is dying and almost gone....

Dirty, dirty, Dirty!!!! Disgusting beyond belief. Weird Hours, closes at 8 or 9 on weekends. Dreary, depressing owners. On its last legs. The Empire is dying and almost gone. Too bad, but with this uncaring ownership, the sun is setting too late for us. Bye Bye! Need more proof? Double decker bus in front is almost rusted away. more

Terrible. 7/6/2009

After looking forward to some comfort food of Bangers and Mash, I eagerly entered the Kings Head Pub in St. Augustine. My potatoes were instant potato flakes and my imported sausages were previously frozen! This restaurant has signs out front, and a disclaimer on the bottom of the menu to inform everyone that they use ""fresh"" ingredients and that everything is ""home made"". Everything they have is frozen. It might have been fresh at one time, but for a decent meal I should have just gone fast food....it would have been the same quality for much less $$$$$$$. Pros: They did have Woodchuck on tap Cons: Frozen, and nasty more

One of the worst I've been to!! 7/3/2009

My wife and I went there with a dining certificate for 25.00 off which we paid 10.00 for. I ordered a burger and fries and had 2 beers and my wife ordered the mystery deep fried fish and fries and had 2 glasses of house wine, We finished the meal by sharing a piece of cake to ""die for"". The service was terrible, I was asked how I wanted the burger cooked, I wanted medium, it came very well done which might have explained why it took so long. The cake was dried out. The fish was small. Surprise, the check came...total price was 90.28, with the mandatory 18% gratuity, after the 25 off and adding the 10 for the certificate this terrible overpriced meal cost 75.28. I don't like being forced to tip a certian percentage, If I have great service I tip up to 30 % and I've never tipped below 10% no matter how bad the service was. Their's no incentive for a server to be their best if they know they don't have to. Cons: Food, service, prices more

Fantastic 3/22/2009

I came last night with my family; We had a large party of 9. The Resturant had a fantastic atmosphere and the wait staff was warm and friendly. Pros: the atmosphere, the decor, the staff & food Cons: some dishes are bland against the american palet more

worst food ever 12/13/2008

The food was the worst I have ever received at any restaurant in my entire life. Everything seemed to have been previously frozen or store bought and they somehow managed to ruin even that. The service was terrible as well. I can not emphasize enough that this was the worst dining experience my wife or I has ever had. Pros: atmosphere Cons: everything else more

RUDE and demanding owner for MORE TIP MONIES!!!! 10/13/2008

Having visited the pub 20 times the last 2 years particularly for the good food and because my hubby is British, I felt it time to write a review regarding the service. The staff for the most part are friendly and do a decent job HOWEVER, The OWNER is an elderly lady trying to hang on to her youth with green and red hair and short mini skirts is a VERY rude and arrogant person.Twice before we had difficulties with her being rude, adding 18% gratuity without permission to the credit card and just downright rude in conversation...but this last time was the last straw. Sat. Evening, Oct 11, 2008, we dined in house, myself, my husband and my mother. We all had an appetizer and a main course and a few drinks, and one dessert to go. When the check arrived, it was 71 dollars. We gave the waitress 80.00...seeing as the food portion was 50 dollars, that was an overall 13 percent tip but a nearly 20 percent tip on the food...and WHO pays for a tip on food to go??? The OWNER came to our table, and said, you paid 80.00 on a 71 tab, we said yes, she said well that is not enough tip. EXCUSE ME???? Isn't a tip at the discretion of the giver? Isn't it OPTIONAL? She insisted we pay more and we said well that is all you are going to get. We were so offended. So, what recourse do we even have? We can either refuse to go there again, and not enjoy the good food and who does that hurt? No one except us. We can tell others to stay away due to rudeness and to warn them to check their credit cards for added charges...and to beware if you don't leave a very high tip to be approached demandingly for more money...but what good does that do anyway? What I'd like to know is, what would some of YOU have done and how would that situation have made you feel if you were approached at your table by the owner demanding more tip monies? Am I being unrealistic? Best regards. Pros: good food hot and genuine british fare Cons: VERY RUDE AND ARROGANT OWNER, will ask for tip monies or add it without your permission BEWARE more
