My service tech was told I have no cooling for the AC. He checks the freon levels and says everything was good. I said there is no cool air coming from the system and I haven't heard the compressor engage. He said it was on. This system is only 4 years old. Finally after I agree to a clean and check, this (bad word) finds that a capacitor had gone bad and it would be a $275 repair, plus $70 service call, plus $120 clean and check. Once I informed him of the correct install date and the system WAS under warranty, he shamed me for not buying the service contract. I know that this capacitor can be bought for $20. I ended up paying $190 just to get this guy out of my house after an hour when the fix should have been 10 minutes.
