A upscale version of Applebees 2/29/2008

I just got back from Kincaids tonight and ate at around 9:35pm. The waiter came and took my drink order without recommending any wines and the odd thing about their menu's is that their on one big cardboard sheet of paper. There is no mention of beer on their drink menu, which is very odd, so I had to ask. He came back with a my beer, which was warm and also the ice water they serve had half ice cubes! He then took my main course order without recommending anything again! I told him the Kobe meatloaf, which comes with mashed potatos and sweet and sour cabbage. The ss cabbage was nice and the potatos were not bad either, but the meatloaf was very bland and I was never offered Ketchup. The bacon that is wrapped around the meatloaf was somewhat burned, I kid you not! The mushroom that are smotherd on top were out of a can! I did not ask if they were I know from being a chef and from eating them at a fast food place. How can they charge 17 dollars for kobe meatloaf and put canned mushrooms on top? I was so hungry when I arrived their that I ate most of it but did not touch the many mushrooms they served atop the meatloaf. The display on my plate looked like they piled everything atop each other. The server then came to me with my bill, while I was drinking my beer and relaxing and he never even asked if I wanted desert! This place is nothing but a overpriced Applebees. 6.50 for tap beers? Their wine is way overpriced and their service is awful! I will never eat here again! If you want fine dining then make sure their food is wonderful and priced right. It amazes me how many people like this place. Pros: It looks nice Cons: Food, Service, Price more

Ehhhh, it was okay 1/15/2007

Nice Place 1/17/2006

The food here is great, the service is wonderful. Stay away from the Bloomington location, however. There is a nice menu variety and the wait staff actually makes you feel welcome. The creme brule is top shelf! Pros: service, food, ambiance more

Amateur Hour 1/10/2006

Kincaid's must have cast some spell on Twin Cities suburbanites. I can't think of another way to explain the love affair. Service is good, ambiance is ""clubby"" (dark wood and old people), and food is uninspired, although consistent and competently prepared. Not a good value. Definitely a hot spot for diners who eat out at a ""fancy place"" like twice a year. Save a few bucks and have caesar salad and broiled salmon at home. Pros: Consistent, Service Cons: LAME, Not Innovative, Poor Value more

LOOKING FOR GOOD SERVICE W/GOOD FOOD? 9/26/2005

I frequent Kincaid's for lunch and always find their staff to be accomodating. I love that they have variety along with the basics. Where can you go to have a great peking duck, peppercorn steak, and or artichoke crab dip? Also, their burgers are excellent! It's not so expensive and excellent service! I highly recommend this place. Pros: SERVICE, FOOD, STAFF more

highly recommended 6/30/2005

A friend and I ate here before a show at the Ordway and loved it! Crab/artichoke dip is to die for and the rest of our food was just as good. Excellent service, great food and the prices were an amazing. Pros: great value, great food, excellent service Cons: parking more

FANTASTIC! 2/22/2005

My husband took me here for my birthday and it was wonderful. The drink menu is great - huge variety. The appetizers are great, salads very fresh. I had the filet and it was very flavorful and tender. Dessert was unbelievable and service was great too. Pros: Food (steak, dessert), service, drink menu Cons: need reservation more

Cozy and Romantic 6/11/2004

I took my wife here for her birthday, the food was superb, the wine list above average, the waitress was marvelous and the food was perfectly prepared. The sampler platter appetizer was almost a meal with very interesting and subtle tastes and textures, the crabcakes were outstanding and the prime rib was excellent and prefectly prepared. We will not wait for a special occasion to return. The visit made the birthday memorable. Pros: Waitstaff, Food & Wine, Romantic more

Best visit yet and improving 5/8/2004

Our 01MAY04 visit started promptly with the crab/artichoke dip, expertly prepared and recommended. For dinner my wife and I both decided to opt for a surf-n-turf option for a change. She had the filet mignon & added crab bernaise topping & enjoyed it, while I had the NY strip w/jumbo prawns. Everything was cooked to perfection, service was above average on this visit. The only thing stopping me from highly recommending has been the hit-or-miss service and/or food at times, in the past. This visit was a real pleasure. I hope it continues. Pros: Good food, nice city location, validated parking Cons: , Hit-or-miss food more

Happy Anniversary 11/15/2003

Been here several times. Love the location and atmosphere. But, food can be too rich sometimes. I have to be careful what I choose from the menue. Great service though. Pros: Good Parking, Great Location, Wine List Cons: Food can be too rich more

Excellence Bar None 4/21/2003

I have eaten at both Kincaid's restaurants and keep coming back to the St. Paul location. The ambience, service, and food quality is definitely better. This is the place I would pick to wine and dine the boss. Hats off to the staff! Pros: Excellent Wait Staff, Better than Bloomingt more
