DO NOT EAT HERE! 3/6/2012

I was here on business and decided to get some take out to take back to my hotel room. Upon eating, I noticed that my steamed dumplings looked slightly under cooked, but thought it just lighting. I decided to focus on my soup just to be safe..I got all the way to the end and began noticing that the black things in my soup that I though was seasoning had LEGS! I had actually ate what seems to be baby roaches (or pieces of it) I called right away to complain and got an apology and was told I could come back any time for my money, but seriously, DON'T RISK EATING HERE!! more

Not a good experience. Story below..... 1/25/2012

My fiance and I were planning to go to Universal Orlando and checked our coupon book for a restaurant nearby. We saw a coupon for Kim Wu Buffet and saw that the reviews online were good, so we decided to go.\r \r Upon arrival, we were seated and awaited assistance. The manager saw that the waitress was busy and cam over to get our drink order. He asked us if we wanted the buffet and pointed to it, and we said yes. We did not know there was another option, and did not have a chance to present our coupon, as the manager hurried away.\r \r The buffet selection was poor....we even looked in the adjoining dining area to see if the rest was in the other room, but no....I was so surprised that there were only several options at the buffet that I asked for a menu. I regretted the buffet at that point. \r \r As my fiance got his coupon out, the waitress came by with the bill and told us ""that not good for buffet!"" The bill was also higher than it should've been, and we were informed that there was a sign in front that said the buffet was $1 more than the menu price. Why not fix the menu?\r \r When she walked away I asked the hostess if I could speak with the manager, and explained that we were not given a menu to begin with, and had we known we could use our coupon on an entree, we would have. She made the correction on our bill. I sat down and when the waitress passed and saw our bill, she huffed and hurried to the back, then hurried to the front to the hostess. Then she came back to our table and said ""that not for buffet"". When I explained we had never been there before so we didn't know, she said ""you been here before!"" Wow. She argued with us for several minutes and walked away. I advised the hostess I'd never been treated that way by wait staff. My fiance wrote a note under the tip section of our bill, ""be polite"". more

Chinese Food - NYC style 5/8/2011

Have been eating @ Kim Wu's for many years and I am never disappointed. The food is the best anywhere outside of NYC. Service is always impeccable. I live clear across the other side of Orlando but I cannot bring myself to go elsewhere for Chinese food more

Good value, GREAT food, GREAT service! 3/12/2011

They have a small lunch buffet Mon-Fri & they increase the choices on the Sunday Brunch buffet. This is where you get the best bang for your buck if you ask me... AND you get to sample many items. Everything, whether on the buffet or from the menu, has been delicious & fresh. The best Hot & Sour soup, & the Egg Drop soup isn't thick & gelatinous like so many other places.. yummy! The crispy duck was scrumptious! They are always so attentive in their service. I love the hot lemon scented wet towel to cleanse afterward. Tom & Cindy are wonderful. more

AT BEST JUST OK 7/12/2010

I consider myself being somewhat of a Chinese food gourmet as i was born and raised in the san fran bay area with most likely some of the best Chinese food in the world at my fingertips. Every birthday of my childhood I was treated to my favorite foods...which consisted of ONLY Chinese! When in the Orlando area I googled 5 star Chinese Restaurants and this restaurant kept appearing. As, well it had numerous positives reviews. The shame of all of this, is one's opinion is seriously almost always relative.....to one's own taste and distastes. So for TRUE Chinese Food Lovers you will be completely disappointed. This lunch buffet lacked the choices and excitement that one usually finds in even the worse of them. What an absolute disappointment it was. We were so happy to have a least the few moments of ""hope"" that we were going to eat wonderful food only to find our selves in the same old place...but with less choices. I must say some of the dishes were good, not greasey and the meats were fresh. Still don't even think of this place as a 5 Star Restaurant. And, SHAME on you that mislead us! Pros: Nice Service Cons: Buffet Lacks Choice more

The best 6/27/2010

I grew up in Orlando and I can tell you that when I think of my childhood, I think of Wim Wu's. The Owners (not sure if they still are or not), Tom and Cindy are great people. The food is out of this world! I live hundreds of miles away now with a family of my own but I can tell you, every time I go back to Florida, KIM WU'S IS ALWAYS ON OUR VACATION TO-DO LIST! Everything that they cook is amazing! The best I have ever had! Pros: Great food Cons: Only in Orlando more

No selection and overpriced 6/1/2010

Only has one cart of food. Doesn't even have dessert! Whoever gave this place five stars is obviously bias. The dozen choices of food tastes okay but is definetely not worth the price. more

So Nice, We Went There Twice 9/5/2009

Our family was just down in Orlando on vacation the week of August 22nd. Was looking for a good chinese food restaurant for a family dinner -- Kim Wu exceeded our expectations. The hot and sour soup was the best I've ever had. Fried dumplings were cooked perfectly -- not dried out from the frying step and a nice meaty filling. The first time there (yes, we went twice), wife and I shared Schezuan beef, the second time we had Crispy beef. We agreed it was the best Crispy beef we'd had since being introduced to it in London back in 1996. For the kids, they had the parasols and other paper ornaments for their drinks, made them sweet and sour chicken. And even the finishing touches after the meal were great, a plate of cut orange, pineapple, and fortune cookies -- all included with the meal. Definitely a keeper for our next trip. BTW -- this is right down the street from Universal Orlando, less than a mile, so if you're staying there, make this a priority. Pros: Food Quality was Superb, Attentive Service more

Amazing Chinese in Orlando 5/24/2009

This place, is amazing, undervalued, really polite. Went out with 14 people, 8 being pretty girls. They were so fast, really good, and amazing! They even bought a cake over for her 21st without us even asking for it. Terrific chinese food Pros: Service, Friendlyness, Food, Quality, Portion Size, Prices Cons: Cant think of any... more

Pleasantly Surprised 1/18/2009

My husband went on this site to find a good Chinese place in Orlando. Apparently its not an easy task, but he decided to take a chance on this little gem. Everythig about this restaurant was wonderful. From their delicious food to their beautiful presentation of it. The waitress was doting and attentive, always serving us with a smile. They even give you free noodles and fruit and cookies at the end of your meal. I highly recommend the house fried rice and the sesame chicken. \r \r I will be making this place our stop for Cantonese. Pros: Wonderful service, food Cons: Wish it was closer to my house! more

Awesome buffet 8/3/2007

A gem in Orlando where chinese food is hard to find. I'm going there now and am bringing a chair to wait for the door to open. I will show this buffet who is boss!!! They will need a fire hose to get me off this buffet!!! more

The best chinese food I've ever had, hands down! 1/27/2007

One word to say about this place. AMAZING!! I can not say enough good things about this place. Excellent staff, setting, and most important the food! Every bite you take is like heaven and that's alot to say about chinese food. Me and my boyfriend go to the buffet which is amazing, it's not huge like those other chinese buffet places, but Kim Wu wasn't really meant to be a buffet but more of a restaurant. However, it's not about quantity but of quality. Every item they offer is the best chinese food that you will ever taste. It's a great way to sample the different things they offer on the menu. Also, when you are done eating they give you a warm towel to wash off, some fruit, and your fortune cookie. All of this for just under 8 dollars. For an average non-buffet meal of 11 dollars is a deal in itself and that's not even mentioning the experience. Give Kim Wu a chance and you won't be disappointed! Pros: Excellent food, at a great price. Wonderful setting, friendly staff Cons: I can't think of any more

The BEST Chinese Restaurant in Orlando 8/12/2004

I've been going here for years and the quality of food and the service has been consistently good. The lunch buffet features freshly made items such as succulent bbq ribs (not the small, dry ones you usually get at Chinese restaurants, but big juicy ones), crab rangoon, lo mein, etc. We enjoy the regular dinner menu even more, which features dishes not typically found in other Chinese restaurants. We like the little extras we get at dinner such as the paper sunbursts they give my son, the hot towels provided after dinner and the citrus fruit provided at the end of the meal with the fortune cookies. First class service at affordable prices. Give it a try! Pros: Food quality, First Class Service, Lunch Buffet more

WUnderful 12/6/2002
