Most of my ancestry is German and Austrian so, needless to say, I've eaten at my fair share of places with food as fun to pronounce as glühwein and verschiedenes. Of them all though, Killmeyer's Old Bavarian Inn is one of the best.
Located on Staten Island, Killmeyer's Old Bavarian Inn is a restaurant that simply must be experienced. The atmosphere is authentic from the vintage steins to the beer garden to the waitresses decked out in embroidered dirndls.
All sorts of German dishes are on the menu from sauerbraten to gulasch to maultaschen but for those who aren't big on such cuisine the Filet Mignon salad with marinated Portabello mushrooms is a steal for $15.
