Awful service mediocre sushi 4/21/2006

After being seated at the sushi bar I had to ask my waitress twice for a cup of tea which she never brought. Luckily the sushi chef noticed I didn't have anything to drink after I got my sushi and he brought me my tea finally. I wouldn't have had anything if it wouldn't have been for the sushi chef. They were not packed and had an adequate wait staff. The miso was watered down. I can get better miso than that from the dried mixes you can buy in the stores. The rice was not properly seasoned which ruins the rolls for me. The tempura was over battered and tasted greasy. All in all a bad experience. I won't be going back here. Pros: Near the beach Cons: Mediocre food, Bad Service, Little Parking more

The only place to go for sushi 8/15/2005

Kiku is the perfect place if you love Japanese food - or if you want to convert a friend to ""sushi lover"". This is the only place I will ever go to eat sushi - I have yet to find any other restaurant that can meet the quality of Kiku's fish. If you can't eat fish, the steak and chicken dishes are just as prime - no matter what you order, you will definitely be impressed, and hooked. Also, the plum wine is fantastic! more

Surprise on the beach 6/2/2004

Kiku is a highly underrated gem on Clearwater Beach. The sushi there is, in my opinion, better than Kaiko -- which seems to win Best of the Bay every year due to loyalty and not the quality of their fish. In all truthfulness, I have sampled sushi in recommended establishments in most major US cities, and Kiku compares well to such retaurants and sushis on many dishes.
