One of the Best Ethic Resturant Ever! 3/5/2009

Once you step through the door, you already feel like you walked into a different world. You feel the Indian vibe and culture once you step in. The food is just as great as the service, it doesn't get better than this. And any kind of money spent here, is well worth it, believe me. This has to be one of Brookly'ns best kept secrets. more

GREAT FOOD GOOD ATMOSPHERE 1/18/2009

This is our second time in this place, I have to be agree the food is good, the atmosphere is warming, for the cocktail they have good mixes, we start by the cod fritters (Accra de morue) it was crunchy and fluffy inside, the soup was carrot, cilantros, coconut and ginger and to be honest that was delight, like a four star restaurant taste. the couscous royal was ok, and the fish of the day , bronzini au chermoula made my night,, the price of the mezzes went up little bit, but the portion also was bigger, on a busy night we can't complaint for the servicewe got, go Kif, go Kif , it will make a different with the alluring dishes in Fort greene. Pros: good for date, good vegetarian option Cons: too small in the winter more

favorite restaurant 12/31/2008

I live in Fort Greene and I finally found my favorite restaurant. We had lamb tangine, crab cakes, and hummus and everything was good. Drinks were good too. Excellent service, very pleasant atmosphere. Pros: tangine Cons: nothing more

I wouldnt eat there again if it was a free meal! 12/27/2008

Keep in mind I am very easy to please when it comes to my dining experience being I have been involved in many restaurants as a partner and also enjoy dining out very much . I would like to first state that it is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in my life for someone to actually come on this site and give themselves a good review so keep that in mind and I am sure that there will be a reply with the attempt to raise the rating after my review but dont fall into the trap , you will only be disappointed . I went out to dine and as said in the review prior to this one I recieved the same plate and service . With that being known when the Tuna fritters came out I recomended that we leave but we stayed . The first thing I took a bite out of on my main plate was the mashed potatoes and they were cold , then I took a bite of the short ribs and they were not bad at all to be honest but at that point I was totally disgusted and did not even eat any more of the plate at all . We paid the bill and asked to speak to the owner after the waitress did not even aknowledge the fact we answered her question "" how was the food"" with the answer HORRIBLE. The owner came up and I agreed to let my date address the subject of horrible service and food. The owner did not finish listening to the first addressed comment before the so called chef came over and interupted the conversation in a aggresive manner. I let the conversation keep going as he stated that they order nothing but the finest Crab and he would show us , well that never happened because of the outburst and rage he started to show . Now at that point I stated that maybe he should learn how to be a man and not raise his voice to a woman , I guess he didnt like that much and told me I was looking for trouble . Now by all means every restaurant that I have ever been to or owned would not tolerate a employee speaking to customers in that manner . Go eat here and find out for yourself what it is like to be disappointed. Pros: if you like to be upset this is the place to go! Cons: is there enough space to explain them all here? more

Worst Restaurant in Fort Greene 12/27/2008

I kept thinking it couldn't get any worse but it did. First we ordered crab fritters that were made with canned tuna. Next, we were the first customers of the night so how did some of our plate come out cold? None the less it was the mashed potatoes? How do you screw that up? Then we told the waitress that it wasn't very good. She literally turned and walked away never asking what was wrong? No one else was in the restaurant so I doubt very much it was because she was busy. We asked to see the owner who kindly came up to talk to us. Too bad he barely listened to what I had to say. He interrupted me to ask the chef a question without hearing me out. The icing on the cake was when the chef came over in a rampage yelling at me and not even listening. In his words ""I don't have to take this from customers!"". I guess I must be missing who pays his check.... I should note that not once did I raise my voice. It is a shame that this restaurant is even in Fort Greene. It doesn't deserve to be in our beautiful neighborhood. I recommend that no one go here. Its not worth the money. Pros: there are none Cons: I don't have enough thumbs on my hand to give it all the thumbs down it deserves more

Thank you KIF 11/13/2008

I first off I would like to mention that I was the Chef that opened KIF. I have worked with Djamal and the core staff of KIF on pervious projects with great success. As we all know Chef's grow and are presented with other opportunities. Djamal and his staff will always have my support even though I work for large hotel in Las Vegas. The neighborhood is very fortunate to have KIF, Djamal and is staff brings a touch of Morocco into your life. Pros: Djamal and his Staff more

to extremecuisine. 11/6/2008

First I would like to apologized for the lack of service, it is actually one of our issues and we are really working on it. Staff comes and goes but if you known our place, you will always see there at least one familiar face cause we do have few people that have been working there on regular basis and almost since we started. more

To whom it may concern 11/5/2008

I was at Kif last night. The place was very busy and everyone was having a great time.I was with a bunch of friends at the bar.The tapas were yummy and their mixed cocktails were exotic and Delicious.I highly recommend it to any one in the neiborhood, cause it is a neiborhood hangout kind of a place.Keep it up!!! Pros: love soccer games on Sundays. They have a Tv. Cons: out of my way visit often. more

Have just returned to this little gem of a place after 1 month away, have eaten & wined there on a couple of occasions, the food was on the up last visit 5-6 weeks ago especially the specials, but the service lacked and oh to my surprise the service is still lacking, no managers/owners direction or so to speak! Cons: masqueradeing as it knows what it is doing more

Best food and atmosphere in ft. greene 10/23/2008

SO FABULOUS, I HAD A BLAST .. THE OWNER DJAMAL IS SO ENTERTAINING AND BARTENDER IS SO WITTY.. WE HAD FUN MEZZE AND YUMMMMY SPECIALTY COCKTAILS CALLED THE MINT TEASE. Pros: food, atmosphere and staff more

worth a second bite 8/20/2008

this place is undeniably cute, the garden is quite a rare find, an oasis of sorts. the staff are very sweet but seem overwhelmed to the point of giving us the wrong food and being tardy about it. once it came it was very tasty, but mezze are small so order them as a starter only then go for a main. the mergues were succulent, the pitta and accompanying oil were scrummy (although it was odd that the same oil was served with the edamame??!). the yam frites were simultaneously crunchy and gooey with lots of dipping sauces. do they need to include (expensive and not that tasty) kosher wine? perhaps a broader spectrum of world wines would be more appropriate for an other worldly setting. slightly cumbersome first experience for us but I would go back and happily try it again with this experience under my belt. Pros: the setting Cons: the confused service more

Most beautiful outdoor and great food and staff..... 8/14/2008

great place, authentic food, great atmosphere and beautiful decor. more

Horrible Service...Not so great food 7/3/2008

The only thing I like about this restaurant is the ambience.... Other than that the food was just ok, terrible service (waited 30 minutes before the waiter even realized we had sat down at which point we were ready to order but only took our drink orders) We had to send back one of our hookahs twice as it wasn't working. Only go here if your looking to sit around and look at the decor, (as you will anyways since service is slow). Pros: Decor Cons: Service more

EXCELLENT MODERN MOROCCAN 5/18/2008

Excellent modern moroccan menu. The Chef has a nice touch on his revised spring menu. We tried all the messe, which has many standouts. The assorted baby beets with the organic greens is outstanding and the grilled lamb sliders with tomato date jam melts in your mouth. My wife and I wanted to test his range so we ordered 1 lamb tagine, ( the lambs was braised fork tender and the sauce thad the perfect amount of acid) 1 shellfish couscous, (the biggest prawn I have ever seen and the black couscous was also a nice touch) 1 rare hanger steak ( also prepared exquisitely). The orange flower creme brulee finished of a perfect meal. I will be back. Pros: Food and service Cons: very busy restaurant more
