Wonderful and enriching academic program; reasonable tuition 4/10/2011

My son entered Kids Connection at 3rd grade. I truly believe that the decision to transfer our son to Kids Connection was a right one. First of all, he is blossoming academically. The Kids Connection's academic program is wonderful and enriching. I do not see any ""busy"" homework. I also do not see any drilling. For example, kids have many different exercises that involved weekly spelling words that there is no need for simple memorization. The projects are so engaging that I myself enjoy participating in it. The building of a castle in 3rd grade is so much fun that I highly recommend to parents of upcoming 3rd graders to volunteer for this project. I learned a lot of new stuff about castle architecture. (By the way, my older son had a similar project at 7th grade at Bowditch middle School :)) Both of my son's teachers are absolutely wonderful. They deeply care about academic and social success of the students. They always have time to talk to the parents and answer any question and concerns you may have. I would like to give one example how school and teacher care about student academic success. As my son started Kids Connection in 3rd grade, he had some problem with writing. The 3rd grade teacher, arranged tutoring for him by the 4th grade teacher during the class ""free time"" to help him to get ready for the 4th grade. Last, but not least, the tuition of the school is half of what other private schools charge. At the end I would like to share with you the opinion of my son about our school: ""The Kids Connection is a really good school. It doesn't kill you but you learn a lot!"" more

I have been with Kids Connection School for more than six years since my son started Preschool. I appreciate the care and education that the school gave to both of my children. I strongly recommend all 5 stars in all the areas, not only on academia, but also kids' mental and maturity development and habits. more

Well Structured Curriculum 4/10/2011

My daughter attends the first grade at Kids Connection and so far enjoys it and is doing very well. Kids Connection has a well-structured curriculum and there is a good balance of math and English in comparison to some other private school. Expect every day math drills, testing and structure. It is after all academic school and your child should be able to handle that. My daughter's teacher motivates the kids, rewards them for good performance and is well liked by her students. No matter where you child is academically, she/he will be challenged. Her teacher takes them on school trips related to their studies, to help the children broaden their knowledge. As a parent I appreciate her communicating with us regularly through her website or emails which I find very helpful and convenient. I find this school to be a good fit for children who enjoy learning and have desire to do well. more

Small class size, personal attention, dedicated teachers 4/10/2011

It was a very complicated feeling when we placed our daughter into Kids Connection Elementary School six years ago. Mainly because the school has been well-known as an academic-driven school and we were afraid it would be too stressful or even less fun in learning for our daughter. Our worries soon went away since she had such a great time at school—making friends and having fun learning through curriculum and various school activities! My daughter is currently a fifth grader and is going to middle school this year. We feel sad that she has to leave but are very confident that she is so well prepared in all areas throughout the past years and is ready to move on to her future school. With my little one also with the school, we know this is a great place she can be. We like the small class size, the personal attention our kids get and, above all, the dedicated teachers that know each student's strengths and weaknesses and try to take them to a higher level in many ways. The principal is also fantastic! Kids Connection Elementary School has made it a very positive experience for my kids. more

Nurturing, supportive, and fun environment for learning 4/10/2011

Our daughter has been going to Kids Connection since she was 3 years old. We initially chose Kids Connection over local schools for the convenience – the school is just a mile from where we live and is reputed to have a good afterschool program. After what we thought was a great start at their pre-school (Mrs. Quinn is AWESOME!!). She started in Kids Connection Elementary thereafter. She was fortunate to get some really great teachers – Mrs. Daly, Mrs. Frye, Mrs. Marquis and Mrs. Harper – who all really knew how to make learning fun for kids. We find the teaching staff extraordinarily committed and the support staff really friendly and nice (particularly Mrs. Burke). There were some anxious moments with change in ownership of the school a couple of years ago, but the school has really changed for the better with a much cleaner environment and new enrichment programs that make it easier to keep the kids engaged and busy in afterschool. Our second daughter, who is a real handful, is starting Kids Connection this fall and we are confident Kids Connection will be able to help her become a confident and diligent student like big sis! Overall we really appreciate the training that Kids Connection provides for kids to become thinkers, readers, writers and artists in a very nurturing, supportive and fun environment. more

Great School! 3/22/2011

Kids Connection was a wonderful school for my two sons. They are now in college and high school. Kids Connection provided a solid foundation for them to excel in middle school and on. The outstanding academics, character development, and social skills they learned from the teachers and staff at Kids Connection has carried them far. We are so grateful that we sent our children to this wonderful school. My kids still have very fond memories of their time at Kids Connection. more

Safe, loving, family oriented school with strong academics! 12/9/2010

We have two children currently attending Kids Connection. They both started at the preschool and are now in the elementary school. When we were deciding on a school for them, our first concern was a safe and loving environment, small (family oriented) school but with strong academics. Our children are doing very well. By the time they reach their final years at Kids Connection, I know without a doubt, that they received the best foundation for their education that will follow them throughout the rest of their school years. In my opinion, the early years are the most critical in a child’s life. This is also the time when habits are formed and will remain with them throughout their lifetime.\r \r The Burkes more

Former Parent of Kids Connection 1/8/2010

My son attended Kids Connection Preschool over 14 years ago and my daughter attended Kids Connection Elementary School K-3rd grade over 4 years ago. \r One of the best teachers I have ever had the pleasure of working with is Doreen James, my daughter's former kindergarten teacher. She is a no nonsense, to the point professional. She taught my daughter to read and write, understand what she had read, write about what she had read, present what she had read and helped to instill in my daughter a love of reading. I often catch my daughter reading under her sheets a night with a flashlight. To this day my daughter rarely needs help with the MASSIVE amounts of homework given to her because the Kids Connection teachers actually taught their students the meaning of what it is to study and how to go about doing it ON THEIR OWN. My daughter has been in the public school system for over 4 years now. She is an honor student in part because Kids Connection's teaching staff gave her the foundation to be successful in ANY school environment.\r The school's physical environment needed to be revamped, but allocation of funds coming into the school were used inappropriately by the former owners. Teachers going without their paychecks is absolutely unacceptable! I agree, a little paint, cleaning, trees, etc. would have been nice, but that does not make the teachers any better than they already were. \r I am considering enrolling my youngest in kindergarten at Kids Connection this fall. You should do what's best for your child and your family. Not every program is the right fit for every child and family. Happy schooling to all. New Owners - Come and Have a look 9/20/2009

We are the new owners of Kids Connection Elementary and Preschool as of July 10th, 2009. It is a wonderful school that needed some TLC and attention to build on the strengths and improve the problems. We have made some major capital improvements and tended to the deferred maintenance so the school opened in September with a whole new look, a committed and outstanding staff and increased enrollment. We are continuing to upgrade all aspects of our operations to make this a safe, secure and loving environment for our students. Come and have a look. The old owner is gone and we are committed to making this the most wonderful environment for children in the area. Last year we tested in the top 1% nationwide on the Iowa tests and we have a very strong and committed staff of professionals to provide an outstanding environment for your children. We are told by our parents that we have amazing academics and happy kids. That is our commitment to our school family.
