As an out of towner visiting I really needed color badly as 3/4"" of growth was showing. Not knowing ANYONE in this area, I found Keter on line and sent an email the night before. Granted I have not been to very many different salons in my life, this was by far the best and most edgy cut I've gotten. I used to just keep my hair long and then decided to cut it short. I cut it to my shoulders but I wanted it shorter. Pros: Lovely Cons: I don't live in Berkeley more

I am mom to a 6 year old with my second child on the way and I needed a hair style to fit my busy lifestyle. was ready for a transformation. My hair got long real quick since my last haircut. After having had an unfortunate color experience at another Berkeley salon, I walked into Keter one day, and had a consultation with Tracy, their color specialist. She was very friendly and helpful, and really gave me hope about my hair (which at the time had been destroyed- from a very lovely natural blonde to an orange mess!!!) I cam in two weeks later to get my hair colored, and had a really great experience. The client she colored before me left with an amazing color and style, so I was really excited. Tracy and I really talked about what I wanted, and she talked me through the whole thing. We had a really fun conversation, and she is really easy to get along with- she is both fun and very professional. I had a great appointment, and I left with an incredibly amazing brilliant and natural blonde. I received a bunch of complements- and most importantly, I felt good about it. I've been getting my hair highlighted for a few years- and although I always go to really nice salons (minus that one I went to where my hair got really messed up..) and this is the first time I didn't need a few days to get used to it. She is really talented- a definite MUST SEE if you want a great result for a reasonable price. Tracy is the BEST!!! Pros: great colorist, comfortable and professional atmosphere, good value more

I recently booked my first appointment at Keter Salon and really enjoyed my experince. I hadn't had my haircut in a while and found Keter online so I decided to check it out. When I called to book I was greeted by a guy receptionist who was very helpful and a bit funny. Anita gave me a fabulous haircut taking care to heed all my concerns. I am happy with Keter all the way around and look forward to my next visit. more

I was greeted with smiles and expectancy. Offered a cozy cup of tea, or water- after I accepted the h20, it was also a choice of temperature! I was delighted (due old sensitive teeth) ""room temperature"" I requested. The assistants and front desk made me feel completely tended to while I anticipated meeting my new stylist, Rebecca. I had recently gone through quite a rough new do @ festoon but my nerves were just disipated ripples in a pond as I was pleasantly ushered to her chair. more

I can't say enough good things about Diana and Keter salon. I've been a client of Diana's for nearly 5 years and am amazed at her creativity and ability to give an stylish contemporary cut every time. I'm a mom with two young kids, so I don't have much time to browse through magazines these days, but I want to stay current and stylish. I find that Diana always gives me a great cut and her color is magnificent! Whether I'm out on the town or running around the playground I always feel hip! Diana is worth her weight in gold!! more

I've been letting my sister experiment on my hair for years with hair color out of the box. It finally caught up with me in a bad way. I went to Keter with really dry, damaged, brassy-colored hair. Tracy didn't balk, she asked me what I was looking for and told me what she envisioned. I came out with there with a rich natural color and a healthy looking shine. I would highly recommend her services to anyone, she's an expert! On top of having fabulous color, I also learned a new styling technique. The salon assistant, Hilary, couldn't have been more excited to get her hands on my curly mess. I've met very few stylists who are this excited to take on the challenge of my impossible curls. It was AWESOME! She taught me how to twist my hair for a super-easy funky style. My experience at Keter far exceeded my expectations. I've already booked my next appointment :) more

I decided to try a new salon because my stylist for years kept on doing the same old thing - she never had new ideas ! I walked into Keter Salon on a whim while I was shopping on 4th Street and booked an appointment with their color specialist, Tracy. I had no idea what a ""specialist"" was, but I do now! WOW! I didn't want a total makeover, just to look modern and beautiful. Tracy listened to me and then shared with me her ""vision"" of what my hair could look like. And then it happened! It's amazing how subtle changes make all the difference. My hair is brilliant and beautiful, yet still natural and believable. I'll never be that boring reproduction of a stagnant stylist again. A couple weeks ago my friend got an amazing haircut. She said she had gone to this newer hair stylist named Yesenia at Keter salon in Berkeley. When I called I asked for the newer stylist and they were able to schedule me in later that day. The minute I got there I totally loved the feel of the place. I was a bit nervous since I usally go to the city for my cuts. So I was very happy to see that she was ON TIME!!!! Most salons make you wait 20 or 30 minutes before they even pay attention to you. She really listened to me and made me feel at ease when she was cutting my hair.(By the way I have a ton of hair) She was able to give me alot of information on how to maintain my hair healthy. And she gave me the best style I have ever had. All in all I had the best experience ever!!!! Also I didn't have to commute all the way to the city and pay an arm and leg for superior service.. I highly recommend Yesenia she's freaken fabulous!!! more

After asking a woman on the street who colored her hair, I found out about Tracy at Keter Salon in Berkeley. I was lacking the beautiful highlights that makes strangers ask ""Who does your hair?"" I immediately made an appointment - thank God she's available evenings - and I've never been more satisfied with my color. I was so glad I bugged that woman on the street! I had no idea that my hair could look so good, and now I'm a fan for life. She really listened to me and gave me exactly what I needed. Get a special treat for your hair with stylist Wayne Garsky. He takes his time, carefully checks out what needs to be done and with his expert touch does whatever is needed which can be a cut, highlight or touch up. I love the atmosphere at Keter. Relaxing, melodious, and comfortably chatty. As you can tell I enjoy going to Keter and feel privileged that I can even walk there from my home. when i found out my beloved colorist tracy left mercer street salon in san francisco, i panicked. i finally tracked her down in berkeley, and i will cross any bridge and any expanse of water to find her again! you can't find talent like this anywhere, and i will be loyal forever! she actually listens and then performs miracles on your hair - i thought i had problem hair, but the truth was that no one could do highlights as well as her. i have - and now will always have - beautiful, sunny, beachgirl hair, and i'll never settle for less again. any salon is lucky to have her on their roster, but i am actually the lucky one here - and you should be too! more

Diana loves what she does and it shows. She keeps herself educated on the latest techniques and products and applies that education to your hair. She studied my hair before she cut it the first time (that was years ago) to learn its quirks. And it is kind of quirky. I have cow-licks in places that can make a girl want to have hat-head. When I first started seeing Diana I had hippie-chick hair and indeed wore lots of hats. In the years that I have been a client of Diana?s she has given me wonderful haircuts that seem to style themselves. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. She makes suggests about styles that will wear well for me. Meshing my personality into some fashionable and fun hair. She knows that while I enjoy looking good I don?t enjoy blow-drying, straighting or lots of time with products. She gives me haircuts that wear like hairstyles. Because while I love having a quality high-style cut, I still have that hippie-chick sensibility about styling. I love my hair and that says it all. To top that - I love how my hair grows out!
