Sixteen acres of landscaped beauty surround and make up the Kern County Museum. The museum is home to more than fifty different historical buildings that make up an old-time town and include a doctor’s office, dental office, dressmaker’s shop, pharmacy, church, jailhouse, railroad car, photography studio, etc. The museum is also home to an ongoing exhibit “Black Gold: the oil experience” that requires an additional entrance fee. In addition to these attractions the museum has a children’s discovery center for activities and throughout the year they host various activities like trick or treating at Halloween. It’s an interesting way to spend the day, but I wouldn’t necessarily buy an annual pass.
