We took our sweet little 3.5 lb yorkie /pom mix to this kennel a total of 3 times just for overnight stays. She was 6 months old the first time and 12 months the 3rd and last. The first 2 times we had no issues other than they didn't really report on what and how she did. We had to dig it out of them whether or not she did ok and if she got along well or played with other dogs and staff well. The 3rd time she was there 2 nights and we picked her up near closing on the 2nd day. She seemed tired and and not herself. A day later she started throwing up and had diarrhea really bad. We tried calling g the facility for 2 days before we finally were able to talk to someone. We asked if any other dog had been sick or if anyone else had complained about going home with a sick dog. We explained what was going g on and we're told "Oh, we just give the dogs Immodium for that". Not thinking much about it we tried the Immodium. She then became lethargic and just wanted to sleep all day a d the vomiting and diarrhea got worse. We took her to our Vetinarian and ended up having to keep her overnight with an IV and treatment. The doctor was astonished to find out that the kennel staff would give out medical advice a d recommendations without being licensed to do so. She even called Kennel Kare and spoke to them and they were rude and defensive as if they were doing nothing wrong. I take responsibility for takING such bad advice, however, my concern is the fact she said that they give dogs Immodium. If they are doing this what else are they doing to and giving our pets?? We will never again use Kennel Kare and will be filing formal complaints appropriately.
