DO NOT PREPAY FOR FUNERAL SERVICES WITH THIS FUNERAL HOME.
My grandparents prepaid for their funeral services - has copies of the contracts and photo copy of check for the full amount of payment. The contracts list all the costs for the funeral services.
My grandfather passed away on September 30, 2011. The funeral home had my grandmother bring clothes for him up less than 24 hours after he passed away. While she was there, the owner, Tom Kennedy, told her that his business partner took off with all the prepaid contracts and money and that she would now have to pay additional money. The amount being $1456.00. My grandmother was in shock as she believed everything was in order (she had just contacted the funeral home in July to make sure everything was in order as my grandfather's health had taken a turn for the worse. They assured her everything was in order).
Tom Kennedy said you can either sign a contract to promise to pay the money or call another funeral home to pick up his body and take care of the services.
As she was forced to sign a contract under duress, it is not legally binding and she is not responsible to pay the money. She now is being told by Tom Kennedy that he will send her to collections and threatened to with hold death certificates. An absolute illegal action.
I want every person who is considering doing business with Kennedy-Kennard Funeral Home to understand that they are the most uncompassionate and unprofessional company in this business. If you or a loved one has prepaid for funeral services, please be aware you may be next in line to be scammed out of more money at your most vulnerable time in life.
