If You're from New York Avoid Kemoll's 10/17/2009

I'm sorry to say that this is at best an attempt at Italian food. The pasta was not al dente. They used no salt when cooking the pasta, and the pasta was drowning in sauce. My veal was totally camouflaged and completely submerged in a tasty brown wine sauce, but it looked more like a Veal Bouillabaisse instead of what it was supposed to be, Veal Saltimbocca. To add insult to injury, they used process Mozzarella! If you are unfamiliar with processed Mozzarella, it tasted like plastic. My advice, if you are from either coast, or Chicago, when visiting St. Louis, stick to the meat and potato dishes so you are not disappointed. One additional comment: when selecting wine, be prepared to pay up to 260% markup. I purchase a very good bottle of Sartori Amarone for $90. In the store it goes for $35. The view from Kemoll’s is expensive. Cons: Midwest attempt at Italian Food more

just okay for wedding 3/6/2009

I had my wedding at Top of the Met this summer. The view was amazing and the food was pretty good. However, a lot of the little details that could have made the day more special were missed. For just a few examples, they served the wrong dessert (which was a pretty big deal because I don't like chocolate and we'd really talked up the italian cream cake) and they didn't set any appetizers aside for the wedding party (who was arriving after the cocktail hour) even after we asked them to. Nothing horrible, but just little things like that. Overall, the day was still amazing, but I think the service could have been better. more

Bad Reviews don't make sense 9/20/2008

Our server was excellent. Never rushed, always there when you wanted her to be. Food was extremely good. It's a very nice and formal atmosphere without the pretentious attitude of staff, ect. While it is a bit pricey, its certainly not over the top for the atmosphere and food Basically it's not cheap, but about what you would expect. Highly recommend this place. Pros: Ambiance, Parking, Service, Food, Wine List, Romantic Cons: Not a bargain (not bad for price more

AVOID KEMOLLS AT ALL COSTS!!! 4/7/2008

Horrible service, and a miserable experience. This is supposed to be one of the best in St. Louis, but my friend and I sat there for about 10 to 12 LONG minutes before someone, in a full room with a waiter serving, even acknowledged us. The staff, of underlings who provided the menus, basically through them at us without saying a word, and the waiter, when he finally arrived, did not apologize after I told him to help us. He did NOT say his name, and after I got up and told the matre'd that we were leaving because of the way we were treated (and we are African-American, mind you) he did not offer to make it right, or offer anything to recoup my business.\r \r Stay FAR AWAY from Kemoll's!! Pros: None. Cons: Thumbs way down. more

Top of the Met - Horrible Service, great view and food 3/9/2008

What a disappointment.....took clients there March 8th...had to beg for coffee, water and drinks.....eventually we went to the bar and served ourself. Who waits 15 min. after being served cake to get their coffee...? US! Forget about the cream. It never arrived. The view is great, the food is excellent but the service ruined the whole experience. We actually had to get up and ask if someone was going to wait on us when we were first seated. It took 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order, then another 15 minutes to get the drinks.....? Then we were approached every 20 min. thereafter. Until the meal was served. After dinner, our waitress vanished...we think maybe she went home. Save your money, what may seem like a great deal for $75 per person, is nothing more than a joke! What a shame too, could have been awesome with the views and the food......Thank god someone else brought the food out...... Pros: Bad bad service Cons: good food..... more

Great for your guests! 9/12/2006

Kemoll's gets a 10+. The best service and very good food! The service staff are formally dressed, but don't seem to mind if you are not.....The early bird special offered a choice of several main dishes, included salad, drink and desert for under $20.00 (We added an appetizer of St. Louis style ""Ravioli for 4"") We parked (no charge) at 5:15, sat down at 5:30 pm, had a great meal over just the right amount of conversation (the quiet atmosphere actually allowed us to converse in normal volume) and were on our way to the Card's game by 6:30. We walked the three blocks to the stadium in a few minutes and were in our seats for the first pitch at 7:15. If you want to treat your guests to a classy restaurant but not break the bank, this is it. Finding Kemoll's front door is a little tricky, since the restaurant is inside the St. Louis Center, but even that is a positive experience. The Center foyer is marble and glass with art-decorated walls setting up the atmosphere for a great dining experience. \r \r Sorry that one guy had a bad experience...He should go back to BurgerKing, I guess.\r more

What a joke! 8/2/2006

While the name may mean something in St. Louis the restaurant is no where near what it once was. Now it is just an overpriced overrated place to take people when you are on an expense account and do not really care about what you are eating. The main dining room is not too uncomfortable but the side rooms are unbearable, sort of store rooms for extra furniture that happend to have a table in it. It is a shadow of what it once was. Pros: You can sit down and people wait on you. Cons: Nothing is good enough to be waited on for. more

Has become a tradition 1/27/2006

A friend who likes Italian food recommended Kemoll's to me and I went there with my wife on Valentine's Day. I was very impressed! I has a very upscale feeling and look, but the server made us feel very laid back. They make a lot of their food fresh there and it shows. The toasted raviolli and their salads are highly recommended. Also if you prefer cream pastas, which I do, you won't be disappointed. Now for the last 3 years I have been back on Valentine's Day with another couple. Pros: T Ravs, Service, Salads more

What an Italian Delight! 3/9/2003

One would never know we were in the heart of a city. Kemoll's (inside) appeared to be a fine, intimate Italian restaurant, with beautiful furnishings, classic paintings and had the feel of an old, established family run restaurant. Every morsel, from appetizers, to salad, pasta, entree and dessert was prepared to order with care. and was too delicious for words. The wait staff was there for us at all times. Excellent service. We can't wait to go back!!!!!! Pros: Ambience, Outstanding cuisine, Excellent service Cons: chair needed repair more

The Kemoll's Experience 1/26/2003

I have ate here on numerous occassions and now reflect that restaurant reviews are really based upon depth and variety of experience along with personal preference. Kemoll's is an excellent choice for Italian food with great service. Attention to details, cleaniness throughout, quality food, impeccable service put to shame the so called Italian restaurants in Denver, CO where I now live and people rate dirty chain restaurants with ordinary food as ""10's."" Kemoll's is what many Italian restaurants try to emulate and fail (take note Denver ""Italian"" restaurants). Pros: Food Quality, Impeccable Service, Atmosphere more
